Friday

Ok I have loaded up 5 layouts that I've done over the last week or so. Some are speed scraps and others are homework for my scrapbooking bootcamp. Some I really like and others are just ok in my opinion.

This first one was one the of the homework assignments. I had to look at another person's layout and "scraplift" it. Which basically means copy it with your own papers and pictures. I love this picture of Sharla and Cooper. It was taken in our backyard. She was just goofing around and I snapped the picture.

This is another homework assignment. It is for a "white space" layout. Which is basically not filling the layout with tons of pictures and stuff. The photo is of Callie and Trey. I'm not sure the exact date, but I'd guess she was about 6 -9 months old.

This layout I did today, and I had to extract the flower, then reduce the color on the original and then paste the extraction back on top. It was a speed scrap challenge. Since I'm not very good at extracting, I picked something simple to extract. I think it turned out ok, I would like to play with it some more to see if I could get the edges a little sharper, but it isn't bad for a beginner.

This was a fun layout to do. First because I picked photos from when Accounting and MIS decorated for Christmas as the "Redneck" department. It was fun going through the photos and remembering what a good time we had doing it. I blended one photo into the paper and I thought it came out nicely. I'm learning new techniques all the time.

I love this picture of Cole, he looks so grown up, yet just enough kid left in him. He was posing for both Sharla and I, like he was some kind of model, looking off into nothing.

I wil try to post some more tomorrow. My goal is to get where I'm posting everyday what I did the day before, but I'm not there yet.

Thursday

Ok time to post some more layouts. I am trying to do a mix of newer photos and older ones. It is hard sometimes to remember the exact date something happened, and if I'm working off of a scanned photo I don't have the date. So some of the date might be off slightly, but it is the thought that counts (or at least that is my opinion).

This layout is of photos taken the night Callie graduated from TSTC. She and Cole were "posing". Those kids have had a camera in their faces since birth, and they still manage to have fun with it.

This is one of those that I can't remember the exact date. I know it was Callie's freshman year in high school, but past that it gets a little foggy.

These photos were taken outside of Wal-mart when Cole's ROTC group was collecting money for the Veteran's Association. They needed some "adult" supervision, so Sharla and I sat with them for a couple of hours. Yeah I know what you're thinking, but some people do think of us as adults.

This last one is of Cooper, taken when he had to wear this collar after his boy surgery. He was so sad looking that we just couldn't make him wear the collar for long.

I've done two speed scraps today and will be doing one tonight, so there will be more posted tomorrow.

Layouts

Ok last night was very long, it stormed and Cooper was not happy. After several attempts to calm him down, he finally settled with Sharla. But not before waking me and keeping me up for about an hour. So I'm a little late in posting my layouts today, but here are some more.

We were all recovering on last Wednesday which was Cole's 16th birthday, so we did not get to silly string him as is the tradition. We've been doing it for years and years. So we surprised him Sunday night and got him.

This layout is of Tom and Callie at the pool.

This is a template challenge I did. The photo of Tom and Mecca is from about 2 years ago and the ones of the kids were taken on Easter.

Ok the last one for today is one of my babies in the bluebonnets. I really liked the papers I used on this one.

Ok, there will be more tomorrow.

More Layouts

About the only thing I did over the holiday weekend was digi scrapbooking, and I did quite a bit of that. Well I did take a couple of naps. Last week was really draining, so I didn't want to do too much over the weekend. Sharla and did several speed scraps, but we also did some challenges which are a little different. Here are a couple of mine.

This one is for a recipe challenge. I thought this would be a great summer recipe and tried to use summer-ish papers and such.

This one was a challenge where you had to use the words from the song "Suddenly I See" by K T Tungsil. I found a picture Sharla took of Mecca's grandmother Maw Maw and thought it just fit one line from the song.

This challenge was called the inspiration challenge and you were to select a place you loved to visit and tell why. I picked the Outer Banks of NC, because that is my favorite vacation place.

Ok those are my layouts for today. There will be more tomorrow.

Holiday Weekend

After a slow week, I got quite a few layouts done this weekend. I had the time, and I really didn't want o get out an do much after last week. So I'll be posting several a day until I get caught up again.

This one is of Tom and Callie, they were playing around after Cole's play while we waited for Cole to come out. They are quite a pair, I'm not sure who made the worse face.

This is my Colegate with something weird on his head. I have several pictures of him with odd things on his head. It is not a hat it is actually two dog collars, the type they wear after surgery so they can't lick. And Cole even willing posed.
Mom and Dad's wedding picture. I love this picture. The ceramony took place in the backyard, and they look so cute. Mom lost her copies of her wedding pictures in a fire, but we have these because they were in some my grandmother had and they were given back to my mom and dad after she died.

That is it for today....more tomorrow.

Slow Week

I've not gotten a lot done this week because between Mom being in the hospital and Sharla and I both sick, I just haven't felt like doing much. I have done a couple of pages.

The first one is Cole's sweet sixteen page. Yeah he turned 16 yesterday and for the first time in years we didn't get to silly string him. But we didn't want to risk passing the bug on to him. I'm sure we'll make it up sometime in the future.

This is one I did of Callie, it was after we ate at Joe's Crab Shack for Mother's Day and she took Mom's crab bib and started posing. She was having a great time.

That is it for now, but hopefully I'll do some more over the holiday weekend.

So much for Caught up

I was really planning on staying on top and posting what I did everyday, then I had the weekend from hell. It started Friday night with a storm coming through and Cooper going crazy, so I didn't get as much sleep as I would like. But got Saturday morning and ran some errands and got home just in time to do a speed scrap. When it was over we had dinner and started another speed scrap. Then about 8 pm Mom started feeling bad, Sharla and I ran to the store to get her some pepto, but it didn't help at all. By about 11:30 she was in really bad shape and we ended up calling 911 and taking her to the hospital. We sat in the ER until about 2:30 when they finally said they were going to admit her. Came home got about 3 hours sleep and then had to be at church to work on the tech team. We went by the hospital after church to see Mom but they were taking her down to run some tests. She wanted a fan, so we left to go get her one and try to get a little rest. Both of us began to feel bad, not like Mom, but not good either. We took her fan to her and came home. It hit me about 3:30 am on Monday morning and I was sick as a dog. Sharla felt ok and went to work, but when she got home she began to be sick. The doctors have said Mom might get to come home today, depending if it has run its course. So I didn't get anything posted, Saturday, Sunday or Monday, but at the same time I didn't get to many layouts done either. So here is what I've done so far.

This is one I did Friday night that is a "family tree" layout. I think in the future I would like to redo it with a different tree. But it was fun getting the old pictures of my grandparents out and using them.

I also did this one on Friday, I found the word art and just had to use it and this is the results.

My first one on Saturday was photos I took at Argyle Arces which is an Iris farm. I really like the finished product on this one.

The next one are photos from our trip to Arbuckle Wilderness over the Christmas holiday. I thought it turned out ok. I may try this type of layout again in the future with people pictures.

The last one I did over Saturday and Sunday, it was very hard to complete because I didn't feel good and was very tired. I may have to redo it at some point in the future.

Ok I'm caught up again, and hopefully feeling better and will get more done over this week.

Caught Up.....Yeah

Ok with what I'm posting here, I will be caught up on all the pages I have completed up to now. Hopefully from now on I will be posting the ones I do each day.

This layout was done as part of my scrapbooking bootcamp that I'm doing. It's main purpose was to teach me clustering and positioning on the page. I still need to practice more, but I can see improvement over my first layouts.

I love this picture. It is Cole and Ira on Mother's Day 2007. She was in town with Dolly and so she got to spend a little time with us. She was picking on Cole and he was picking right back.

I guess I could have called today my Tucker day since most of the layouts are of him. This was one of my first layouts, but it has been on the bottom of the pile because it was named Tucker.

YEAH with this layout I wil have posted all of the pages I have completed so far. I did this one last night. The picture is Tucker's first experience with snow.

My goal today is to work on my blog background and header. I just don't care for the one I have now, but haven't been able to make one I like better. I'm not sure I will get it finished today, because Mom has a doctor's appointment, so a big chunk of the day will be getting her there and back. And for those who want to know, she is doing so much better, she now only sees the doctor every other month rather than once or twice a month. So that is a great improvement.

More Layouts

Ok I'm going to several layouts I've done. I'm trying to get everything I've done previously posted, but I don't want to overload any one day. Hopefully, I'll be caught up soon.

This is a challenge from Brownie Scraps where you had to use every piece in a their kit. It was hard because I didn't like all of the papers, but I made it work. The photo was taken Easter Sunday at Tom's after lunch.

These photos are from our trip to NC the summer of 2000. The kids were excited to be at the beach but the water was cold.

These irises are from Argyle Acres, and one of my favorites there. Unfortantly they are not for sale yet. Hopefully they will be next year. I'm not overly excited about his layout, but it was a late night scrap and I just couldn't get it the way I wanted.

This is another photo from our 2000 vacation to North Carolina. Callie was getting Mom and Dad to wear Trey's hat sideways, so of course Sharla and I were snapping away. What can I say, Callie has always had them in the palm of her hand.

Ok I'm sure everyone recognizes my Tucker Joe. I learned how to do the partial coloring on this layout and I think I'll be using that technique again in the future.

More tomorrow.....

Callie Layouts

Ok here are three layouts I've done with pictures of Callie. The first one is from the night she graduated from high school and the next two are photos taken last Saturday when we took Mom out for Mother's Day.

She will always be a Daddy's Girl. I think I'm going to redo this page at some point, I don't like the colors as much as I thought I would

She stole Cole's hat and we couldn't resist snapping a few photos. Of course when I was growing up pimping wasn't something good, but times change.

As we were leaving, Callie gave mom a big smooch.

Tomorrow I should be caught up with all the speed scraps I've been doing. Then hopefully I'll be posting what I'm doing each day.

Layouts of Cole

Ok I've done several layouts of Cole over the last week or so. If you look close you'll see he ranges in age by a couple of years. I still have to go back and do some of the older ones, but here are the ones I've completed up to now.

His role as the evil puppet master in Pinocchio, and he had a very evil laugh in this role. This was February 2007.

His role as Juliet's father in Romeo and Juliet, and the play was in May 2007.

And the most recent taken on Saturday night after taking mom out for Mother's day.

He is growing up way to fast, but thankfully he is such a good kid.

More Layouts

Ok, I'm going to post several layouts I've done in this posting so that I can begin to get caught up with all I've done. I still have several more completed. I've been averaging a speed scrap a day so far this month, so that means I have about 12 (or maybe even 15) pages done. Hopefully, I'll be caught up at by the end of the week and can post daily what I've completed.

Tucker

Cooper

Zoey

I'm still learning lots of things, in fact I'm taking a digital scrapping bootcamp, so hopefully my pages will get better as I go along.

More Speed Scraps

Ok May is a popular month for speed scraps, seems like there is one just about every day if not two or three.

Here are a few more I've done. These two were done last weekend. I'm going to try to post 2-3 a day until I get caught up with all I have done.

and

I am still struggling working under the time limit, but I'm getting better.

More will post this week.

Speed Scraps

Ok I am not a fast scrapper, I tend to play around with things over and over because I can't make up my mind. But I've been particapting in some "speed scraps" since last weekend and it has helped me complete some pages. For those that don't know what a speed scrap is, you get a set of instructions over the course of one hour, normally one every ten minutes and then you have one extra hour to finish your layout. So basically you have 2 hours to do a layout from start to finish. For me that is very hard, but it has been fun too. And rewarding because I've actually finished several pages.

My first speed scrap and one of my favories.

Here is my second one.

I'll post some more later. I have actually completed 7 speed scraps since last Friday, so I'm building up a nice stash of pages. Of course they are random, but I don't care.

I'm off to work on a new blog background. I like this one, but it isn't what I really want.

Blog Class

I'm taking a class on how to customize your blog at www.digitownsquare.com and I'm really looking forward to it. I have been playing with my background and stuff, but it is such a trial and error thing. I'm hoping the class will give the guidelines to do what I want. I'm just a touch ADD and love change, so I know me I'll probably change mine every time the mood hits.

My current background is one I did last weekend. I like it, but I don't love it. It is a little more formal than I really wanted. I'm not really that formal. My problem right now is deciding what I want it to look like. I see someones and say to myself, I like that, then I see someone else's and like it...yeah I'm a little ADD.
