November/December Layouts

Ok I was on track at the beginning of November, but something went terribly wrong and the rest of November and December have gone way off track.  I had such wonderful plans, and very few of them came to fruition. But hopefully I will get more on track for 2014.  So let me end the year right by showing you layouts I made for the last two months.

To begin with I have one using Autumn Spice by North Meets South Studios.  I love the colors of this kit, they are really beautiful.  For my layout I used a photo of Callie and MawMaw.  They might have been very different but they shared a very special love.

Next up is one using A Life That's Good Value Bundle.  The flowers in this kit are awesome and ya'll know I love flowers on a layout.  The photo is from several years ago, and is of a motley crew.  But a crew that I am blessed to a part.  Even when I'm down these guys make me smile.

Now for a layout that was really fun.  Not because the photo is great, it was taken in my garage, but because of what the photo represents.  Sharla and I got a long arm quilting machine and I took a photo of the box as we waited patiently for the floors to be redone so we could get it put together.  Ok we weren't very patient.  The kit I used is After 10 Years Value Bundle and November Templatetopia.  I love templates, they make scrapping so easy and this kit is not my normal colors, but I love working with it because it makes everything look great, even a photo of a box.

My last November layout used Blue Jean Boy Value Bundle which is an awesome kit for doing boy layouts. Great colors and elements make it very easy to put together a page quickly that looks great.  I used an old photo of Cole for this one.

Now for my December layouts. First is one I did for the Recipe Challenge on the Trixie Scraps Blog and I used A Life That's Good Value Bundle again.  As I said earlier this is a great kit that is just plain fun to use. The photo is of Tom and Mecca, after all these years they are still happy together.

Next is one I did for a font challenge.  I used Triumphant Value Bundle which is a great kit because it can be used for so many different types of pages.  For this one I featured Cooper, the precious baby that went to the Rainbow Bridge in November.  I miss him every day!

Next I got to used some photos from Christmas Day of Tom's family.  The family is growing and growing. We now have Jessica (engaged to Trey) and Beau (engaged to Callie).  And I will say this, they made me laugh all day.  They are crazy but I love them!!!!  I used Picture A Family Value Bundle which is perfect for family pictures.  A great mix of colors and elements!!!!

And my last layout for December uses Spunky Monkey Value Bundle which is just a fun kit.  I didn't use any of the cute monkey elements, but they are simply wonderful.  The layout is of Hollywood, my nephews puppy.  He is a lab mix and way to big to be a lap dog, but he just refuses to believe that.  In this picture he is sitting on me.  Crazy boy!!!!

Well that is it for now.  Make sure you head over to Trixie Scraps Store and pick up these wonderful kits. They will make scrapping your pages easy and fun!!!!  I promise that things will be different in 2014 and I will blog more.  I hope to add lots of posts about quilts I complete as well.

I hope each of you has a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!

October Layouts

Ohhh my can I just say October has been a busy month!!!!  We had all of our floors replaced last week.  Yes every single inch of floor space, which meant everything in my house has been moved at least once, somethings several times.  I love the new floors but am so glad I don't have to do this again anytime soon.  Luckily I got to do lots of layouts before this week to show you.

First I will show you a layout of my new floors.  I used October Templatetopia by North Meets South Studios, a wonderful set of templates that make doing layout easy.  And I also used Picture A Family Bundle by Trixie Scraps Designs.  I love the colors of that kit.  The photos aren't wonderful because I used my phone, but you get the drift.

Next up is a layout I did using Believe In Your Dreams by North Meets South Studios.  It has been created for the Gingerscraps Scrapping Survivor contest and it is just too cute.  When I saw the red shoes it just reminded me of some photos of Callie and this is what I created.

Next is a layout I did for the Scrapping Survivor contest.  It was a challenge because it required a large b/w photo and two color photos.  Then it also required colored and black and white elements.  I decided to use Sunshine Day Bundle by Trixie Scraps Designs and a ribbon from the Believe In Your Dreams.  I used pictures of my little sunshine boy.

Now for my layout using Triumphant Bundle.  This was Trixie Scraps GGI pieces and I love the colors.  I used a picture of Sharla when she was learning to use her new leg.  I really believe she has done so well with this process.

I am not a big Halloween fan.  Don't get me wrong, who doesn't love the candy, but I'm not big on dressing up for the day and neither is Cooper.  He wasn't happy to be wearing a sweet pea costume but I think he was super cute.  I used Witches Brew by North Meets South Studios for this one.  I have to say the kit is super fun!!!!

Next up is a layout I struggled with, I'm not into the Ghoul School stuff, in fact I had never heard of it, but this collab by Trixie Scraps Designs and Ponytails Designs is just too cute.  I love the colors, the bright colors with the grey is really cool.  I found a silly photo of me...yes me and made it work.

And my last layout for now is using God Gave Me You by Trixie Scraps Designs. The pieces are simply beautiful.  I love the colors, browns with touches of cream and pink.  I think this is my new favorite kit!! I used a photo of Ariella, because I thought her sweet smile went so well with the kit.

That is it for now, I recommend all of these kits.  They are beautiful and such fun to use.  And you should get them for your stash as soon as possible!!!!

September Layouts

I cannot believe that September is almost over, why is time passing so fast??? Am I getting old....DON'T answer that!!!!!  Well September has been a busy month, so far we've made progress on getting the floors replaced, if all goes well it will happen in two weeks.  We also have a new addition to the family.  Yes Cole has adopted a puppy, aka Hollywood.  He has boundless energy, much more than any of the people or other dogs in the house.  Hopefully I will get some good pictures of him soon and ya'll can see him.

Now this month I did do some layouts, so let me show them to you.  First is one I did using September Templatetopia by North Meets South Studios as well as Apples for Teacher Value Bundle and Sunshine Day both by Trixie Scraps Designs.  The photos are of Tucker and his new blankie, and that mean Cooper who insisted on sharing it with him.

Next up is a layout I did using Picture a Family by Trixie Scraps.  The kit was part of the September 2013 Scrap Pack available at Scrap Stacks.  The photos are Callie and Watson, one from when she first got him and one a little more recent.  He has definitely grown into a big boy.

Next up I did a layout using Autumn Spice by Trixie Scraps Designs, Designs by Connie Prince and Aprilisa Designs.  The kit was created as part of the September Art Social Kit for MSA.  The photo is of Callie and Sharla.  It was taken several years ago, but is one of my favorite photos of the two of them.

And last but not least is a layout using New Kid in Class Value Bundle by Trixie Scraps Designs. The photo is something I rarely use, and that is a photo of me.  Yeah that cute chipmunk cheeked girl is me.  We won't talk about how many years ago it was!!!!

I have to say I love all of these kits, so if I were you I would pick them up right away!!!!  For other great kits be sure to check out Trixie Scraps Designs Store.

August Layouts

Ever have one of those months where you had lots of good intentions and yet nothing seemed to get done.  Well welcome to my life!!!  I did some things done, but it seems like it was a month of doctor visits, driving and very little else.  Well I did complete a quilt top, but I will blog about that later.  Right now I want to tell you about the layouts I created this month.

First I have the one I made with this months Templatetopia by North Meets South Studios.  If you love templates like I do, you really should always get these, because  they rock. I also used Spring Fling Value Bundle by Trixie Scraps Designs.  I love the colors in this one!!!!  The photos are Sharla trying out her new "Crow" boot.  It is custom made to fit her foot, so help reduce the chance of any sores.

Next up I made a layout using Remembering You Value Bundle for the photo challenge on Trixie Scraps Blog.  I have been hearing the new song by Carrie Underwood and thought it would make a great layout.  I used pictures of Mom and Dad.  I love the colors in the kit and how they work with both color and black/white photos.

The next layout I used Nature Walk Value Bundle which has a wonderful mix of colors.  I saw a quote on pinterest that I've been wanting to use on a layout, so I did this one for the font challenge at Gingerscraps. I used a photo of Tina and Samuel to go with the quote.

And my last layout for the month used Love in the Garden.  If you are a gnome or frog fan you have to get this kit!!! It is beyond cute and I love the bright cheery colors. I did a scraplift for the scraplift challenge and the original was beautiful and it was by Cutejo1.  I think mine is ok.  I do love the picture of Sharla and Cooper getting a little snuggle time on the back porch.  Can't wait for it to cool down so we can spend some time out there.

That is it for this month, it has been fun.  You should make sure you head over to the Trixie Scraps Shop and pick up these kits soon.  I know you will find lots of great uses for them!!!!

July Layouts

I can't believe July is almost over, it seems like it just started yesterday. I have my July quilt cut out, but not a single block sewn on it. Hopefully I will get some done this week. I won't finish it but hopefully I will at least start it. Sharla is doing better, but still in a wheelchair, so my days are much busier than normal. Luckily I did get some layouts done to show you. First up is one using July Templatetopia by North Meets South Studios. I love those templates they just make everything easier. I also used Heart of a Friend Bundle by Trixie Scraps Designs. The photos are Tina and Ariella at her birthday party.

Up next is one I made using Love in the Garden pieces. If you love gnomes you will definitely want to get this kit. It is just so so so cute!!!! The photo is Callie and her "Beau".

Next up is a layout I did for a challenge on Trixie Scraps' Blog. It was a word challenge and the word was "Hot". I used King of the Pride for this one, because I thought the colors really worked with the word. I love the rich colors!!! The photos are Callie and Cole on Jockey Ridge.

And last but not least is the a layout I made using Got Glasses pieces. I love the colors on this one, and such wonderful elements. The glasses are just beyond cute!!!! The photo is Sharla, not really wanting me to take her picture, but alas I won that one..hehehe.

Ok that is it for how, but make sure you pick up some of these kits, they will be wonderful additions to your stash!!!!

Wrapping Up June

I can't believe that June is almost over.  Since I spent a lot of it visiting Sharla in the hospital, I got very little done.  But I did manage to get a few pages completed.  Also for those family and friends that follow this blog Sharla is doing great!!!! She started back to work this week part time and will go full time mid next week.  She was ready, sitting home all day isn't fun when you can't do much. We took mom's electric wheelchair to her office to use, so she can stay off of her foot as much as possible.

My first page to show you is one I made with It's His Birthday Value Bundle by Trixie Scraps Designs.  I love the mix of colors and elements.  I used photos of Cole being silly stringed on his birthday. That was one tradition that was missed this year because Sharla went into the hospital on his birthday.

The next layout using Spring Fling Value Bundle by Trixie Scraps Designs.  I love the soft colors of this one not to mention the wonderful flowers.  I used picture of Ariella from her birthday party.  I didn't get many photos of her smiling (I think was was a little overwhelmed). She is definitely a cutie when she does smile.

And my last layout uses Vacation Bible School by North Meets South Studios (aka Trixie Scraps Designs and Designs by Connie Prince). This kit is such fun, the colors are bright and cheerful and the elements are perfect for your VBS photos.  I used some of Cole from a couple of years ago when he was part of the VBS team acting out stories for the kids.

Ok that wraps it up for today, make sure you head over to Trixie Scraps Designs and pick up these wonderful kits soon!!!!

Busy June

I had planned a busy June, but it was going to be doing things like scrapping and quilting, not sitting in a hospital room, but plans change.  For those of you who are friends and family that follow this blog, Sharla is doing much much better and we hope to have her home soon.  But in the mean time I have gotten a little scrapping done and today I'm going to show you what I've done.

First up using June Templatetopia by North Meets South Studios and Rescue Me by Trixie Scraps Designs is my Tucker misses his Shar Shar page.  And he really does miss her!  I love the big photo templates, and this set is really wonderful.

Next up is a layout I did using Trixie Scraps Designs' Gotta Get It pieces called King of the Pride. Now talk about fun, I love these pieces.  The colors are rich and deep and she did a wonderful job with the elements.  I used some photos we took at Arbuckle Wilderness a couple of years ago.

And last for today is a layout I made using Bratitude pieces by Trixie Scraps Designs. This is a great kit to scrap those bratty kid pics and so much more.  I love the papers in this one, they are simply awesome!!!!  I used a photo of a brat I know, Angela.  Ohhhh ok she really isn't that much of a brat, but she has her moments.

I would suggest you head out and pick up the kits for your stash soon!!!!  They are all wonderful and I know you will be able to do lots with them!!!!!

iNSD and Lots of Goodies

Did you know that today is iNSD (International Scrapbook Day) which means lots of sales, challenges, prizes and so forth.  Unfortunately I'm working and broke, so not much shopping or games for me, but I love to look.  If you are interested in digital scrapbooking this is a great weekend to get some deals.  Today I'm going to show you some layouts I made with kits by the wonderful Trixie Scraps Designs. She has a 50% off sale going on this weekend so you really need to visit her store.

First up is May Templatetopia by North Meets South Studios (aka Trixie Scraps and Connie Prince).  I love their templates, they make putting together a layout super simple. But they layout still look wonderful.  I also used Heart Of A Friend Bundle, because the colors in that kit just make me happy.  The photos are of Sharla's log cabin quilt.  We just finished a class and I think her's turned out super!!!!

My next two layouts use Trixie's Grab Bag for iNSD called Social Butterfly. I think she hit this one out of the ball park.  The colors are wonderful and the elements are just great.  Plus the grab bag has page starters. I don't normally use them, but I couldn't resist.  The second layout went together in about 5 minutes, because all I had to do was add photos and a few touches.  Both of these layouts feature the biggest social butterfly in my life...Ms Callie!!!!

And lastly is a layout I made using Spring Fling pieces. These are Trixies pieces for the Ginger Scraps May Buffet.  I love the soft colors with the grey, a wonderful mix.  I used photos from Ariella's 2nd birthday party. She was a little overwhelmed by Chuck E Cheese, so she wasn't the happiest of little girls.

Make sure you head over to Trixie's Store and pick up some of her wonderful goodies this weekend while they are on sale!!!!!!

So Much....

Ok April has sped by so fast. I swear I've started to post layouts 2 or 3 times, but then get distracted...squirrel. Yes I'm easily diverted. But today I'm going to show you layouts I've made using Trixie Scraps Designs kits. And she has had some great ones this month. First up is April Templatetopia and Heart of a Friend Bundle. Templatetopia is always a good deal, so you want to hurry and pick it up before it goes away.

Second up is Prima Ballerina a beautiful kit that is perfect for all your dance photos.  It is a wonderful combination of pinks and grays that really looks sophisticated.

Now for my favorite kit and probably my most favorite layout in a long time. The kit is It's Her Birthday and it is so bright and cheery.  I also used April Templatetopia.

And my last layout uses It's Her Birthday as well.  And features the same birthday girl, just one year later.  I love the mix of colors in this kit, they really go with so many things.

Now make sure you head over to Trixie Scraps Designs' store as soon as possible and pick up all of these wonderful kits!!!!

Mug Rug Blog Hop

Happy Thursday all, I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!!! I'm sure you are stopping by to see my contribution to the the Mug Rug Blog Hop.  Today is the last day and I can say there have been some super cute rugs shown.  This is my first quilting blog hop, I've done several with digital scrapbooking, but this one really made me nervous.  I shouldn't have been nervous because our wonder leader Madame Samm at Sew We Quilt and our cheerleader Erin at Sew At Home Mummy have really made this easy.  But what makes me nervous is all the wonderful rugs I've seen on the previous days.

I started quilting in 2007, but stopped when I got laid off and just recently started again.  I thought a mug rug would be a great way to get a project finished.  But then I had to decide on what I wanted to do.  And let me tell you that took a lot of time. Here in Texas April means flowers, March rains bring the April flowers. The spring season is very short. So I wanted to do a flower but all I was finding for patterns were applique and I don't really like that method.  I finally found a tulip that was cute and the only applique was the stem.  So then picking colors, piecing and the real test would be quilting it.  It pieced together very quickly, but I don't really quilt on my machine.  I've rented a long arm quilter and am saving for one, so I do more piecing than quilting.

I finally made myself sit down and quilt it.  Nothing fancy, just straight lines, but it was so much fun.  I love piecing, but there is just something wonderful about the quilting process.  I soothes my soul.  After quilting it I had to bind it.  Another process I don't love, but it was small so it went pretty fast.

So are you ready to see my rug.

It is not anything fancy, but it works for me.  I'm glad I completed it.  It also was fun to do something different.  I've not done many half square triangles, but I think there will be many more in my future.  I drink my coffee out of an ugly silver coffee cup that is great for keeping it warm, but not so pretty for photos.  So I decided to show off my Tucker mug. Tucker is my fur baby and my sister gave me a mug with his photo on it several years ago.  And of course I had to add a little snack and who can resist chocolate even if it is Easter leftovers.

I have to say this was such fun that I'm sure I will be joining more hops in the future. I hope you enjoyed seeing my mug rug and make sure you check out all the others from today and the last week and a half.  There have been some really awesome ones!!!!   Here is the list of my fellow hoppers for today.

I'm always glad to hear from my fellow blogger, so feel free to leave a comment.  If you want to follow me with BlogLovin' feel free to do so. And I hope each of you has a wonderful day!!!!!

Traveling Stash

I was out in blog land a week or so ago and I saw this very cute idea of a traveling stash box. What is a Traveling Stash Box? It's a box that's filled with a collection of fabrics, threads and other quilt fun! When you receive a box you take out what you like, replace it with items from your own stash, hold a giveaway and then send it on to the next lucky person. You can find all the rules and guidelines here.  I signed up for the chance on Robin's site Livin' Blue Quilter's site and low and behold I won.  My box arrived last night, and it had some really great stuff in it.  Let me show you what all was in there. There is only one tape measure, but some how it made it into two photos.

And after careful consideration I chose to keep these items from the box.  I will admit is was easier to find things I wanted to keep than to find things to put back into the box.  I love fabric and have such a hard time parting with it.

I admit I love pink and green so those were easy choices for me.  The hardest thing was not taking it all, and I have to admit the little birdie fabric went into and out of the keep pile several times. So then the hard part really started.  I pulled out fabrics and there were a couple that I had gotten in swaps that weren't my taste, but still beautiful, so those were fairly easy.  But then it was so hard to choose, I looked at the other fabrics in the box and tried to give things a little mix.  I even included two 1 yard cuts of some batik fabrics.  Those were the hardest to give up, but I noticed there weren't any in the kit and I thought they would make a great addition.

So now is the time for this wonderful box to move to a new home to give someone else some joy. So if you want a chance to have this box visit you next, leave a comment below.  Comments will be open until April 5, and I will draw on the 6th.  Please make sure I have your email so I can contact you if you are the winner.

Here are the rules for the traveling box:
  1.  Be an active blogger. Post about receiving and the box and the giveaway on your blog in a timely manner.
  2. There is a note in the box that logs where the box has been. Please add you info and place the note back in the box.
  3. There is a list of Rules and Guidelines in the box. Please read and follow these and return the list to the box.
  4. You may take anything you like from the box. Just replace every item with comparable quilt shop quality items equal to the amount taken.
  5. Ship the box to the next person in a reasonable amount of time.
  6. Due to the amount of postage, shipping is only within the USA.

Comments closed a winner will be picked and announced shortly.
