At the end of last year we found out that my nephew and his wife are expecting, and in March we found out that they will be having a girl. So of course a quilt needed to be made. They are doing the nursery in pink and grey and so I worked up a couple of options and Jessica picked a chevron pattern. I bought the fabric and got started.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6_Fim3AFlGvBcBnL1x2T87cNcNGiXM3YBPhI_pSppEYAGHvzxjTeHHzXU2uSMCD3k8x8dWU600LgfC1WMfyABlBU4hfxb1xGnZigLH-D2RU00WwZuVvIsWzTupS-gyfDoxe8uop5AaiQ5/s1600/d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="822" data-original-width="1600" height="328" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6_Fim3AFlGvBcBnL1x2T87cNcNGiXM3YBPhI_pSppEYAGHvzxjTeHHzXU2uSMCD3k8x8dWU600LgfC1WMfyABlBU4hfxb1xGnZigLH-D2RU00WwZuVvIsWzTupS-gyfDoxe8uop5AaiQ5/s640/d.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
In my head I had until mid July to finish, not thinking that the baby shower was Memorial Day weekend. When I realized that, the push was on, and I luckily got it finished. Fat Quarter Shop had Triangles on a Roll on sale so I bought a pack to see if it helped make HST faster. I do think it did make the process faster. Thanks to them and to the fact that the quilt is smaller I was able to finish it start to finish in just under a month. I didn't post it last week, because I wanted the finished product to be a surprise for them. I did tease them a little with this photo on Facebook.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnDoGmEFtCTcMniXd6p_QL0KRaJ2TlrTV5sOmqAhY8Oq3r134sL6FrlJMEAtnG2HJMB8GiDsWMjM3Rm1j89yIOvW_AjlgQEt63zO9x4urOw4A5Mi6pMHh0GVIrFgMnMZEyrkEv25Fkoz3r/s1600/e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnDoGmEFtCTcMniXd6p_QL0KRaJ2TlrTV5sOmqAhY8Oq3r134sL6FrlJMEAtnG2HJMB8GiDsWMjM3Rm1j89yIOvW_AjlgQEt63zO9x4urOw4A5Mi6pMHh0GVIrFgMnMZEyrkEv25Fkoz3r/s640/e.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Saturday morning came and I hadn't photographed the quilt, so Sharla and I hurried outside to try and get a couple of decent shots. We didn't want to put it on the ground, so that mean't me holding it while she took the picture. Let's just say it was HOT outside even early that morning. It took us a couple of tries to get an alright shot.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkdUj9k3VgEpqPbIiNCAV1S7oPw2HJ-LFEnccUixRm0Qt44Q-qU8FcPpiW8foC7-FDNuR38xycSCvhEIx8wyKSPoW-uwC7iZ3Lj_GKUfXNFrdzsxzN-jsP32E04ZJYQlJEwxQ1fu-g3-SP/s1600/a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1389" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkdUj9k3VgEpqPbIiNCAV1S7oPw2HJ-LFEnccUixRm0Qt44Q-qU8FcPpiW8foC7-FDNuR38xycSCvhEIx8wyKSPoW-uwC7iZ3Lj_GKUfXNFrdzsxzN-jsP32E04ZJYQlJEwxQ1fu-g3-SP/s640/a.jpg" width="554" /></a></div>
<br />
Now what Trey and Jessica didn't know is that I added a little something special to the back. So I made sure it was folded so the back wasn't seen until it was unfolded. I told them as they opened it to make sure they looked at the back. Jessica thought I wanted them to see the label, but no I was wanted them to see.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh78o63wZXzFvrramP1wyNf-E9fmneIhwX4GiCIDKOq7IpBUFbbleH9yPk3ssq6nWCMqt9FEs-IT9jhQW0IyStPWxJqcznYtnNSxKYymv7L8wZbsZMQ2WnoyXncHlMcFSGPm6jUCRkWGkaP/s1600/b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1456" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh78o63wZXzFvrramP1wyNf-E9fmneIhwX4GiCIDKOq7IpBUFbbleH9yPk3ssq6nWCMqt9FEs-IT9jhQW0IyStPWxJqcznYtnNSxKYymv7L8wZbsZMQ2WnoyXncHlMcFSGPm6jUCRkWGkaP/s640/b.jpg" width="582" /></a></div>
<br />
The back was facing the guests and everyone went ooohhh at the same time and so they quickly flipped it and they were thrilled. Which of course just made me happy. I didn't get a shot with both of them in it, Trey kept holding so you didn't see him behind it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglJmrMy1kmewNCP3rl0j1ZgvK5xpZDNYNcg6Y5n5RZKaPdkz89L8ulHLW4poauJVeBKn9NpLvDgd56zZ4OJwmTN-XTxbiIqGEa0vRpmidmI5HANwZqj5ACbDs12kXTd3-PzvPCIhe-Aery/s1600/c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEglJmrMy1kmewNCP3rl0j1ZgvK5xpZDNYNcg6Y5n5RZKaPdkz89L8ulHLW4poauJVeBKn9NpLvDgd56zZ4OJwmTN-XTxbiIqGEa0vRpmidmI5HANwZqj5ACbDs12kXTd3-PzvPCIhe-Aery/s640/c.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Over all I'm very happy with it and in some ways I like the back even better than the front. It was just big hunks of left over fabric, but I really love how it finished. My brother and sister-in-law gave them a handmade cradle, so I'm going to make a mini version that they can use in the cradle and then Kalya can use it as a doll quilt when she is older. Of course Trey said Jess would be stealing the quilt to use on the couch, so maybe I need to make her one as well.<br />
<br />
I was happy to be sewing and quilting again, and I've even started two new projects, the cradle quilt and I'm joining the #scrappytrip2018 and creating a scrappy trip quilt using some Evergreen jelly rolls I had. Hopefully I will be able to show ya'll some progress on that soon. But for now I'm going to link up with <a href="http://confessionsofafabricaddict.blogspot.com/2018/06/can-i-get-whoop-whoop-little-bit-of.html" target="_blank">Can I Get A Whoop Whoop @ Confessions of a Fabric Addict</a>, <a href="http://www.myquiltinfatuation.com/2018/05/skyline-quilt.html" target="_blank"> Needle and Thread Thursday @ My Quilt Infatuation,</a> Finish It Up Friday @ Crazy Mom Quilts, and <a href="http://busyhandsquilts.blogspot.com/2018/06/plus-quilt-in-island-batiks-finished-or.html" target="_blank">Finished or Not Friday Linky Party at Busy Hands Quilts.</a>Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00329080022563939698noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7642803842386677027.post-47596174230534137672018-01-08T10:02:00.000-06:002018-01-08T10:02:31.348-06:00Goodbye 2017...Hello 2018I know ya'll have probably been wondering what the heck happened. I just dropped off the blogging world without any notice. Well let's just say 2017 was not my favorite year ever, ok it wasn't the worst year of my life but it also wasn't the best. Lots and lots of things broke around my house last year...frig, dryer, hot water heater, garage door, computer, TV, kitchen faucet and car, which meant I had little money to buy my favorite thing fabric. But even worse I just lost my mojo.<br />
<br />
I think the real problem was I was comparing myself to all the wonderful bloggers I follow. Seeing how much they were accomplishing and me getting little done and I let it get to me. And then I joined the 100 Days of Tula Pink challenge and it really kicked my butt. I loved it, don't get me wrong, but having to post something every day for 100 days was just pressure that I didn't need. I found myself not wanting to write my blog, read other blogs or even sew.<br />
<br />
Now I've not been to a doctor, but in my opinion I think I was just depressed, in a blue mood, funked out...I could call it a hundred other names but it all is the same. I found I didn't want to do anything, I was late on bee blocks for the first time, because I just couldn't get the "umph" to do them. And that made it worse, because I felt I was letting people down.<br />
<br />
I decided I needed a little break, and I really only planned to stop for about a month. I thought that would give me time to refresh my batteries and get going again. But it has been over 6 months. I have thought many times about writing, but to be honest I wasn't sure what to say.<br />
<br />
So I didn't write. I just stayed in my funk. The really funny thing is I missed writing. I just didn't miss the pressure to write. So over the holidays I did some thinking and I had to make a decision. Do I want to continue to blog? And I decided yes. But I'm not going to pressure myself to have a certain number of posts a week, I'm not going to pressure myself to finish X amount of projects this year. I'm just going to have fun with it.<br />
<br />
So in that vein I picked a word for 2018...ok I actually picked 3. I read a cool blog post about selecting the word of the year and the author actually selects three words. Which I thought was a good idea, because it allows you to focus on more than one thing and for my crazy brain, that sometimes helps. I'm sure you are curious about the words I chose.<br />
<br />
<b>Move</b> - I have to move more, plain and simple. My knees are giving me lots of grief, but I can't let that stop me from moving. I drive 100 miles 5 days a week, and work at a computer for 8 hours a day, so that means I sit a lot. I have to find ways to work in moving more. I'm not just saying this like it is magically going to happen, we have already bought an exercise bike and now I just have to make myself use it daily.<br />
<br />
<b>Stash </b>- This word has double meaning for me this year. The first is after the expensive year we had last year, I want to stash away cash...build my savings. I want to re-exam my budget and find ways to save money. This leads to the second meaning to the word. I have enough fabric to sew for years and not buy any, so that is what I want to do. I want to use more of what I have and not buy new. I did not sign up for any bee's this year, so I shouldn't have to buy for others. There is one exception I'm giving myself and that is there will be a new baby in my family this year, and if I have to buy fabric to make a quilt for him/her then that is ok. Other than that I'm ignoring sales (as much as I can), and trying to use what I have.<br />
<br />
<b>Grace</b> - I recently saw a video on facebook where women were talking about the mean things they say to themselves. Things they would never say to anyone else, but they say to themselves on a regular basis. And I realized that I do that to myself all the time. I am never good enough, and if I do something good and someone says so, in my head I stay they don't know about all the times I suck. So this year my goal is to be kinder to myself, and also to be kinder to others. I need to cut myself and others some slack. I know this one is going to be hard for me, but in the long run, it will probably have the best results.<br />
<br />
Ok so I'm starting off 2018 with three words to focus on and hopefully master by the end of the year. I don't know where 2018 is going to lead me, but I'm hoping somewhere fun. I've already been working on grace for myself and I've decided that I'm not going to push myself to complete specific project, I'm going to let things flow more naturally. So I'm not sure I will be posting every week, but I hope to post more often than once every six months.<br />
<br />
And since I hate blog posts without photos, here is a photo of the last project I did. It is much further along now, but I will save that for later (because I don't have pictures of it yet.<br />
<br />

Nothing in and nothing out, but progress is being made, just very very slowly. I've got all the blocks sewn for my Paisley Please quilt and I have then organized into rows, I just need to sew the rows. I have also been trying to finish up my #100days100blocks2017 blocks. If all goes well I will finish cutting and sewing the all of the blocks this week. But I will only be able to sew on Monday, Tuesday we get a new roof, so I'm pretty sure I will be holding Marley and trying to keep him calm. I'm taking Hollywood to doggie day care, so he won't be bothered at all, but Marley would be more terrified of being left there than the noise at our house.<br />
<br />
Now Sharla and I did post every day last week for our #100days project and we posted blocks 78-84, and I have to say these are some of my favorites so far. Ok maybe they are all my favorites. Here are my blocks, and my favorite this week is #79 (middle, top row).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsKbyyJeuom7ioRgMIaJuIClHKeLi8ahAKtjRE8ct59bQhSZ8X2KTYtX7X2P30l_1-ZGODNQmCBek-Vzs-25nHcjrAlIikyZh42b8sKaMbWujIlUZVAnl0_KC8ztVA2RaC0IsIi1RfQZrX/s1600/P1140125+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1270" data-original-width="1600" height="508" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsKbyyJeuom7ioRgMIaJuIClHKeLi8ahAKtjRE8ct59bQhSZ8X2KTYtX7X2P30l_1-ZGODNQmCBek-Vzs-25nHcjrAlIikyZh42b8sKaMbWujIlUZVAnl0_KC8ztVA2RaC0IsIi1RfQZrX/s640/P1140125+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Here are Sharla's blocks, and I love her block #79 as well. We will hopefully be laying all of the blocks out soon so we can get idea's for the final layout. I am pretty sure I know what I want to do, but Sharla is still deciding on how she wants to arrange hers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxJmTDVYCf8tg51ZkQiG46AVi8JUCW83IbUr6Ewgei1Zv4SgWohNzkPmz5QTnmorksHX0Q2Y7TXOGH59vaUIW-t52tUoygkZ6aNb_p_BJNSPl51nXb402bZ-9H0kclVV6YRRLEs0hSzFyP/s1600/P1140113+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1163" data-original-width="1600" height="464" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxJmTDVYCf8tg51ZkQiG46AVi8JUCW83IbUr6Ewgei1Zv4SgWohNzkPmz5QTnmorksHX0Q2Y7TXOGH59vaUIW-t52tUoygkZ6aNb_p_BJNSPl51nXb402bZ-9H0kclVV6YRRLEs0hSzFyP/s640/P1140113+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Since no fabric came in or went out the numbers are the same, boring but the same. I hope to have something new to report next week. I still have to get my bee block made and in the mail. I'm not sure what happened to July, but it went by so fast I don't even remember it. I will be linking up with <a href="https://quiltpaintcreate.wordpress.com/2017/07/30/sunday-stash-july-30-2017/" target="_blank">Quilt Paint Create</a> today, and if you want to see what others are doing check out her blog.<br />

I hope you have a great week and if you're in Texas, try and stay cool.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00329080022563939698noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7642803842386677027.post-90505029281298187582017-07-23T11:20:00.000-05:002017-07-23T11:20:26.396-05:00Sunday Stash - 07/23/17Well there has been no movement on the stash front. Nothing in and nothing out. Sharla and I are both working on projects, but none were finished this week. We did continue to work on our #100Days100Blocks2017 pieces, and we are getting close to the end of that project. I love it, but at the same time I'm ready for it to be done. Doing anything for 100 days in a row is hard for me.<br />
<br />
Here are my blocks from last week, we went through block 77, so that means on 23 more to go.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSatOg5VCgBIa3_x9gaQu31q6MASEDJ-ImIcvcqJfQ1kveML15fCjbf4GOOirbyOBFo3lHlt-loAtewZ3fcRXQAlevEHPeBADSFIeDVbwH_U5EUgxHAbWuON-_ja8w7YQbjnq33bt-iDaE/s1600/P1140084+c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1053" data-original-width="1600" height="420" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSatOg5VCgBIa3_x9gaQu31q6MASEDJ-ImIcvcqJfQ1kveML15fCjbf4GOOirbyOBFo3lHlt-loAtewZ3fcRXQAlevEHPeBADSFIeDVbwH_U5EUgxHAbWuON-_ja8w7YQbjnq33bt-iDaE/s640/P1140084+c.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And here is Sharla's for last week. I think she is ready to finish because she much prefers when she can chain piece and most of the blocks now don't have a lot of chain piecing in them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYWZehnA7SiZhJP_WEYQ2TKwIQ7ildyp1HhRbmQA_jqVerBqJ6n9drGAExFTIsPzY4GmLA246tEjt0zT3moxlsmiiYHwdqzpRY0XX_9dkp2h6N5dowLxfOHMZaIiqXr1T-LM3s6mo-ul8f/s1600/P1140095+c.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1221" data-original-width="1600" height="488" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYWZehnA7SiZhJP_WEYQ2TKwIQ7ildyp1HhRbmQA_jqVerBqJ6n9drGAExFTIsPzY4GmLA246tEjt0zT3moxlsmiiYHwdqzpRY0XX_9dkp2h6N5dowLxfOHMZaIiqXr1T-LM3s6mo-ul8f/s640/P1140095+c.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
But although we are ready for it to end, both of us are loving the blocks we've made so far. I think if I did this in the future I would try and do all the blocks over a couple of weeks, and not drag it out. We've always stayed ahead, but we have consistently worked on it over the entire time as well. Now since there was nothing in or out this week my numbers stay the same. I'm hoping to get more done on my Paisley Please quilt and Sharla is getting close on her Bristo, so maybe the numbers will change next week. I am linking up with <a href="https://quiltpaintcreate.wordpress.com/2017/07/23/sunday-stash-july-23-2017/" target="_blank">Quilt Paint Create</a>.<br />

We have done well each year and so we will continue and do it again this year. We used real banks the first year which were a monkey and a duck(McGee and DiNozzo...yes we are NCIS fans), and while I still love these banks they were difficult to use.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The last two years with have used a boxes I found at JoAnn's and they worked much better. Well I think Sharla used a cup to collect most of her change, but that is because she couldn't remember to take the box off of her desk.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKioj7OyR8X_QE-XQQlJ1Yp4lFGhIbLbjKKDLxubhfbnXCTUjEoPQtmLYP39wfhHArbvLzvVaQDadeTglGPvlL7tkMobxs3gC-Ho2l9xpQrn8-xdVZ5allsFoiaAZU9FfLewYF-ks3kVbm/s1600/P1110235+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1166" data-original-width="1600" height="466" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKioj7OyR8X_QE-XQQlJ1Yp4lFGhIbLbjKKDLxubhfbnXCTUjEoPQtmLYP39wfhHArbvLzvVaQDadeTglGPvlL7tkMobxs3gC-Ho2l9xpQrn8-xdVZ5allsFoiaAZU9FfLewYF-ks3kVbm/s640/P1110235+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I realize the boxes are boring, but they work and I can set mine on my desk, so when we do our monthly money/budget stuff I can drop a $20 in it. Since we gather much less change these days, I try to put a $20 in it every month (approx. $5 per week). If there is leftover money at the end of the month I might drop a little more into it. I can also still toss my change into it as well. But I may make a pouch this year to toss my change into, because it beats up the inside of the box a lot.<br />
<br />
I would say we are going to buy more fabric with the money we save, but who knows what the year will bring. We serviced our sewing machines this year with part of the money so it would be nice to do that again next year. Maybe will take a class or buy some new cool tool. But it really doesn't matter what we buy, the important part is that I save more than Sharla (just kidding...well sort of...ok not kidding). If you want to join the challenge simply check out <a href="http://myplvl.blogspot.com/2017/07/5th-annual-piggy-bank-challenge-begins.html" target="_blank">Val's page</a>. It really up to you if you save a little or a lot.<br />

On the 7/2 I was off work and just didn't want to sit down at the computer and last weekend I was very busy, so I just skipped it. But I'm back on track today. And let me just say it has been a busy couple of weeks. We've been keeping up with the #100days100blocks2017, so that means I need to show three weeks of blocks for both of us. And we've received the goodies we purchased with our piggy bank money.<br />
<br />
So to get started let me show you my three weeks of blocks. As of yesterday we were posting block 70, so that means only 30 left to go. I'm still enjoying it, but I will say there are some blocks I like more than others. And sorry there are lots of pictures this week.<br />

<br />
We have both picked out the fabric we want to use for the sashing on our tops, but haven't ordered it as of yet. But we did count our piggy bank money and order some fabric. We both have been looking for a while knowing the piggy bank challenge would be over soon, but neither of us was finding things we just loved. We even talked about just saving the money. In fact we used part of the money to service our sewing machines. Then Sharla found Kaffe Fassett Collective Spicy bundle and we both really liked it. So we decided to buy the bundle (30 FQs) and split it. During May is for Makers I purchased a pattern called <a href="https://diaryofaquiltershop.com/products/craftsman-pdf-pattern" target="_blank">Craftsman by Amy Smart</a> and it uses 15 FQ, so we decide we would each make it. We have purchased the outer border and backing fabric as well. But we still have to buy the sashing fabric.<br />
<br />
Here are the fat quarters I picked.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnQv89Mny3oSVRAa99lWjV5-CLsve3g9KLWkVTYC-giddNcL7hC16uqXRlyIrE8nD4XH-nzn4TC8U9kxPNgbyiG62gSbcVO-HvbYAYO6WagM6pxyMb2DVhSzMLFfpBgK0LOozc_aq4dV1B/s1600/P1140064+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1406" data-original-width="1600" height="561" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnQv89Mny3oSVRAa99lWjV5-CLsve3g9KLWkVTYC-giddNcL7hC16uqXRlyIrE8nD4XH-nzn4TC8U9kxPNgbyiG62gSbcVO-HvbYAYO6WagM6pxyMb2DVhSzMLFfpBgK0LOozc_aq4dV1B/s640/P1140064+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And these are Sharla's pick.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5Oq1WLpk1WP1bOcCJrzEZFvheD0IdGZ9LaUho9m66JM71toe96NnbCNDFjUFCJnM4el67sGVU6UZ4-CMjjzlgs_NjWfuf_TC2u5LMcX8o2RyyQY8hwtZvoA89kWN5mjkYUE95ucUko1G0/s1600/P1140069+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1223" data-original-width="1600" height="488" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5Oq1WLpk1WP1bOcCJrzEZFvheD0IdGZ9LaUho9m66JM71toe96NnbCNDFjUFCJnM4el67sGVU6UZ4-CMjjzlgs_NjWfuf_TC2u5LMcX8o2RyyQY8hwtZvoA89kWN5mjkYUE95ucUko1G0/s640/P1140069+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And this is the backing/border fabric we have chosen. Mind is on the left and Sharla's in on the right. She really loves the fish fabric. We may buy a different fabric for her border, but we won't know for sure until we start assembling it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHUGPv9-KTewUsiJBsalAPz4j8EZE_Sov_hCSBy-SL-tiZVXRpMsEBAm5DdxtBCTFmXkWprSVyUGOLuEfkPRLA7jXZjVRVqiC_7M2TwvuAuDWZz2BIt9l1oPMMXyYpiZ3DNPQJQYyjHpZl/s1600/P1140071+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1093" data-original-width="1600" height="436" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHUGPv9-KTewUsiJBsalAPz4j8EZE_Sov_hCSBy-SL-tiZVXRpMsEBAm5DdxtBCTFmXkWprSVyUGOLuEfkPRLA7jXZjVRVqiC_7M2TwvuAuDWZz2BIt9l1oPMMXyYpiZ3DNPQJQYyjHpZl/s640/P1140071+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
So now it is time to talk numbers and they definitely went the wrong direction this week, but I think we restrained ourselves quite successfully. We still have money to spend, but won't be doing that until we buy the sashing for the #100day and Craftsman's tops. This weeks numbers are<br />
<br />
Fabric Used this Week: 0 yard<br />
Fabric Used year to Date: 122 yards<br />
Fabric Added this Week: 14 1/2 yards<br />
Fabric Added Year to Date: 86 1/4 yards<br />
<b>Net Fabric for 2017: 35 3/4 yards used</b><br />
<br />
Now I've have been progressing with my Paisley Please flimsy and Sharla has been working on her Bristro, so I'm hoping to be able to up the Used number very soon. But overall I'm not unhappy with our progress, at least it is still going in the right direction. Today I'm linking up with <a href="https://quiltpaintcreate.wordpress.com/" target="_blank">Quilt Paint Create,</a> and if you want to see what others are doing, check out her blog.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00329080022563939698noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7642803842386677027.post-58390171231799753152017-07-07T12:56:00.000-05:002017-07-07T12:56:16.796-05:004th Annual Piggy Banks Savings RevealSorry for so many posts today, but this will be last one, at least I think it will be. Today we are to reveal how much we saved in out piggy banks this year. We started saving last July and it has really added up this year. And all totaled, Sharla and I did really well. Since we changed how we do things, neither of us get as much change as we did in the past, so we both started tucking $5 per week or $20 per month in our banks then more as we had left over in the monthly budget.<br />
<br />
So who saved more....me, but really only by a tiny bit and only because I found a stash of garage sale change left from a couple of years ago and threw it into my bank. I saved $423.89 and Sharla saved $410.85, so a total of $844.74 (OH BOY). And we've already used a nice chunk of that to have our sewing machines serviced. Since we've been trying keep out fabric purchases to a minimum, that seemed like a good way to spend at least part of the money. And it was time for them to be serviced. It was a nice way to cover that cost without having to adjust anything else in the budget. Now does that mean we won't be buying any fabric, NO.<br />
<br />
We have already ordered a fat quarter bundle of Kaffe Fassett Collective Spicy. It has 30 fat quarters in it and we are splitting them so we each get 15. We have also already ordered the backing fabric to go with the bundle. We have the patterned picked out, but still need to order the sashing fabric. Here is the bundle<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Sharla picked the Tomato Shoal (or as she calls it red fishies).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After we buy the sashing fabric for these quilts and our Tula pink quilts we will still have some left over, but we've not decided what to buy with that as of yet. To be honest we both really looked and couldn't find anything that just jumped out at us, so it may just sit until something does.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We did really well this year by consistently adding money each month. If we counted only the change, I had about $90 and Sharla had about $20. We are big time budget people (yeah Dave Ramsey), so any money tossed into the piggy bank was out of our fun money. So we weren't robbing Peter to pay Paul. We are both excited about our Spicy quilts, and I'm sure they will get onto our to do list very soon. In the mean time, I am just happy that we didn't turn all into fabric. The remaining money may also go to buy some other supplies like thread, batting, etc.</div>

I am hoping to get a few more done this quarter. I would really like to get all of them done, but that really isn't possible. I keep the list big so that I have choices. So let's start. Most of these are from last quarter, but I did add a couple of new ones.<br />
<br />

I think I have three to do. First up is my One Monthly Goal. I finished my goal for last month, but alas Sharla didn't. So I am 6 out of 6 and Sharla is 4 out of 6. But she is hoping finish her last month's goal this month.<br />
<br />
My goal is my Paisley Please quilt. It is a bundle I purchased a couple of years ago on the Flash Sale at Fat Quarter Shop (I love those). Sharla spotted it and called me because it if full of purple fabrics which I love. I decided to use the pattern Easy as ABC & 123, and here is a mock up of it. I struggled to find photos of the fabrics to use, so some of them aren't wonderful, but at least you get the idea. The fabric is cut and matched into blocks, but I've not started sewing yet.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8AvhE04t4rkswOXKR6kqrolDqRWyulzM8bIi2I0FXL9LT8M96Bdb2xobyu7VyHXzqXdzfvh3ATFzgSX80PzAFeY4R5oyNgzFSNtf-Bi9zHRAzPTy7wu4o338BheWYknCp132R41BSIdvm/s1600/Capture.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="839" data-original-width="687" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8AvhE04t4rkswOXKR6kqrolDqRWyulzM8bIi2I0FXL9LT8M96Bdb2xobyu7VyHXzqXdzfvh3ATFzgSX80PzAFeY4R5oyNgzFSNtf-Bi9zHRAzPTy7wu4o338BheWYknCp132R41BSIdvm/s640/Capture.JPG" width="524" /></a></div>
Sharla is going to keep working on her Bistro flimsy with the hopes of finishing it this month. I think the #100Days100blocks2017 has slowed her down, but she is having fun with it. So that is what counts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAswSjALRtCa96ws2-yoCDOTjQjP0DbJ3hzm1NyvueTfoMgQbRk8G89N6ZUpFYEtULqZJUrs2ZlZKKbWuL0n5_5hikg6r9-3Z5KcwChtbkH6SodvJUQoS_KjHFTA7rlyfvOchK3BKMAgPT/s1600/Bistro.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1341" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAswSjALRtCa96ws2-yoCDOTjQjP0DbJ3hzm1NyvueTfoMgQbRk8G89N6ZUpFYEtULqZJUrs2ZlZKKbWuL0n5_5hikg6r9-3Z5KcwChtbkH6SodvJUQoS_KjHFTA7rlyfvOchK3BKMAgPT/s640/Bistro.jpg" width="536" /></a></div>
<br />
We were both hoping to get ahead over the 4th of July weekend, but the shots I got in my knees before the weekend really knocked me for a loop. So I spent a big part of the weekend with my knees up and iced. My knees are getting better each day, so I'm hoping to get a lot done this weekend. I am linking up of with <a href="http://www.elmstreetquilts.com/2017/07/one-monthly-goal-july-goal-setting-link.html" target="_blank">Elm Street Quilts for July's One Monthly Goal.</a> If you want to see what others are doing then check out the linky party.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00329080022563939698noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7642803842386677027.post-67612693931143459832017-06-25T09:26:00.002-05:002017-06-25T09:44:40.998-05:00Sunday Stash - 06/25/17I'm sorry to say the numbers aren't changing much this week. Sharla is making progress on her Bistro quilt, but she will be hard pressed to finish it this week. Mainly because our sewing machines are going to the spa this week. It is time for them to get serviced and we want to make sure we have them back before next weekend because that is a 4 day weekend for us.<br />
<br />
We are both still staying current...a little ahead of the #100days100blocks2017 challenge. Today's block will be #50, so we will be 1/2 way done. This week is week 7 and has blocks 43-49. We are still in the midst of the triangles, which I love, Sharla not so much. I think my favorite this week is #44 (top middle).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrvTHVHhTShuVGPGB54gb-IKyGsH3Xxt9oDiODEqsNn8mE_jXc5P9RTNe6aXqai9mEzppSlgsW3a8LM3KE8XU6so1UYTHvgEvG8ByrLTyDg7A6Daj25oYslgAOYPy00_9xiHQpdqbwy3v8/s1600/P1140016+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1403" data-original-width="1600" height="560" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhrvTHVHhTShuVGPGB54gb-IKyGsH3Xxt9oDiODEqsNn8mE_jXc5P9RTNe6aXqai9mEzppSlgsW3a8LM3KE8XU6so1UYTHvgEvG8ByrLTyDg7A6Daj25oYslgAOYPy00_9xiHQpdqbwy3v8/s640/P1140016+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Sharla isn't having as much fun with the triangles, but she is pushing through. I love her #44 as well, but I think her favorite is #47 (2nd row middle). She is hoping to get a little more ahead next weekend, because all she has worked on this weekend is her Bistro flimsy.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkZl1XZrrLEffFdsaEy1NQU30Kl_isZ90yDXxmu1oi5bLrPwEROrg3eZ-diNBT3IsA881_muFCUM7G4zSCxWBL7yMA_yuiVuPdyoKx4eCKsbquD6i0QkTY4zTJQTZW1E4nze2OaB-HAFYE/s1600/P1140003+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1480" data-original-width="1600" height="592" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgkZl1XZrrLEffFdsaEy1NQU30Kl_isZ90yDXxmu1oi5bLrPwEROrg3eZ-diNBT3IsA881_muFCUM7G4zSCxWBL7yMA_yuiVuPdyoKx4eCKsbquD6i0QkTY4zTJQTZW1E4nze2OaB-HAFYE/s640/P1140003+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now I do get to count a very small amount as used this week, because I had forgotten to count my bee block which has been sent and already received. I didn't actually count how much fabric I used but since it is a 16 1/2 inch square I'm guessing I used at least a fat quarter on it.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjl6gj4YZDXZv-BZNlwFNZUttFzGQgp7cgY74b3jBHMKRC31s1XriUaoFUxG-1GoKmLQYcQmptrokfbTmqTbN1QQsDks5eB9LYtEBYOKgKhFrwiMwXkLRh_TVAM5jgxPVw-RdzDx9nWHCX7/s400/19059171_10155436935469686_5893480628687355612_n+copy.jpg" /></div>
<br />
Now it is time to show numbers, which are not vastly different from last week, but I need to count everything possible. We open our piggy banks next week and we already know what we're going to buy. So the number will most likely go in the wrong direction soon.<br />
<br />
Fabric Used this Week: 1/4 yard<br />
Fabric Used year to Date: 122 yards<br />
Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards<br />
Fabric Added Year to Date: 68 yards<br />
<b>Net Fabric for 2017: 54 yards used</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
I have already gotten the fabric starched for my July project and will try and starch Sharla's this week. I hope to get mine cut and maybe even both of ours cut this week. I may have to cut more of Sharla's 100 days project first. I am linking up with <a href="https://quiltpaintcreate.wordpress.com/2017/06/25/sunday-stash-june-25-2017/" target="_blank">Quilt Paint Create,</a> and you can too or just check out the linky party to see what everyone else is doing.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00329080022563939698noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7642803842386677027.post-58070419114996541802017-06-18T15:40:00.000-05:002017-06-18T15:40:50.561-05:00Sunday Stash - 06/18/17Happy Father's Day to everyone. My wonderful father is in heaven today, hopefully smiling down on us. I still miss him. But he would want me to be happy not sad, so let's talk about things that make me happy...and you guessed it quilting.<br />
<br />
I'm happy to say I the numbers are going in the right direction because I've shown off my flimsy of Hollywood's zombie quilt. It is a really simply quilt, but since he is a dog, I'm guessing he won't care one way or the other. This way it shows off the cute fabrics. And I did learn something with this quilt...zombie's can't climb trees. I'm not sure that helps me much because I can't climb them either.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaRrlwQmR4N8d0TWJGoeMxpaiKLoatBjjz1Y9tDqNx7Y3GVorJecUoj4UHs3MHJ3CALywf3K9bdPoHQ2E6nvUxHUvY46bzFFMI94PI32-7PDpfXPZxe923-o4nKcJVKHQGpEXCesjuY0jv/s1600/IMG_20170605_123645+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1031" data-original-width="1080" height="610" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgaRrlwQmR4N8d0TWJGoeMxpaiKLoatBjjz1Y9tDqNx7Y3GVorJecUoj4UHs3MHJ3CALywf3K9bdPoHQ2E6nvUxHUvY46bzFFMI94PI32-7PDpfXPZxe923-o4nKcJVKHQGpEXCesjuY0jv/s640/IMG_20170605_123645+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now Sharla and I also kept up with our #100days100blocks2017 this week. As of yesterday we were through block 42, yes that means we are over 40% done and we are still going strong...well I am. We both picked out the fabric we want to use for the sashing, but won't purchase it until later unless is goes on sale. Here are my blocks for the week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieegwgKzLjFtsNuscwI_4HePHtjOIWMULuuz6mEMJGHgIQe1mb4knEJVBbocpcnvA56THdV2yFTG7PegkCAC41esNo0ppanHdMvI-iq3QNnRCwX6yKW8KUAlNBzogMbIomukoyQb3ImMf4/s1600/P1130983+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1532" data-original-width="1600" height="612" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEieegwgKzLjFtsNuscwI_4HePHtjOIWMULuuz6mEMJGHgIQe1mb4knEJVBbocpcnvA56THdV2yFTG7PegkCAC41esNo0ppanHdMvI-iq3QNnRCwX6yKW8KUAlNBzogMbIomukoyQb3ImMf4/s640/P1130983+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Sharla is not enjoying the HST or snowball corners, so last Tuesday, I did all of those pieces for her. I didn't trim the HST or put any of the blocks together. I just sewed the diagonal seams and put them in a baggie for her. She still doesn't love the blocks, but they aren't driving her as crazy as they were. Here are her blocks from last week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgteVZAdZ7F_PqksFOph_UWeovEnYg3UXKvZY2jg2zb98CaiANL88t7qlSlht5KR-n_7X6YKSNA9P84BbSnhhMD51ZsgeefquI2gqlmhg5UWAWqII2wDeTfzxn3RqCFFhuwagFF_6xAVz8W/s1600/P1130969+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1543" data-original-width="1600" height="616" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgteVZAdZ7F_PqksFOph_UWeovEnYg3UXKvZY2jg2zb98CaiANL88t7qlSlht5KR-n_7X6YKSNA9P84BbSnhhMD51ZsgeefquI2gqlmhg5UWAWqII2wDeTfzxn3RqCFFhuwagFF_6xAVz8W/s640/P1130969+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Sharla still needs to work more on her Bistro quilt, but I know if she puts her mind to it she can get it done. Luckily I can count my finish now that it has been shown. So let's talk numbers.<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "droid sans"; font-size: 16px;">Fabric Used this Week: 3 1/4 yard</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "droid sans"; font-size: 16px;">Fabric Used year to Date: 121 3/4 yards</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "droid sans"; font-size: 16px;">Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "droid sans"; font-size: 16px;">Fabric Added Year to Date: 68 yards</span><br />
<b style="background-color: white; font-family: "Droid Sans"; font-size: 16px;">Net Fabric for 2017: 53 3/4 yards used</b><br />
<b style="background-color: white; font-family: "Droid Sans"; font-size: 16px;"><br /></b>
<span style="font-family: "droid sans";"><span style="background-color: white;">Not bad in my books, would I like it to be a bigger number sure, but at least we're in the black. I know we will be buying some fabric in July when we open and count our piggy bank savings. We've already picked out some of what we want. But we are also going to be good and use some of the money to service our sewing machines. I am linking up with <a href="https://quiltpaintcreate.wordpress.com/2017/06/18/sunday-stash-june18-2017/" target="_blank">Quilt Paint Create,</a> and you can join in too, just check out her linky party.</span></span>Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00329080022563939698noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7642803842386677027.post-26152439246739336282017-06-16T11:34:00.000-05:002017-06-30T10:16:36.798-05:00Friday Finish - 06/16/17I actually finished this quilt on June 5th, but life has just been busy and I've not gotten it photographed until today. And today's pictures aren't wonderful, but I will take what I can get. The quilt is Hollywood's Zombie quilt, and the story behind it is...Cole calls Hollywood his zombie apocalypse dog. Hollywood is supposed to protect him in the event of a zombie apocalypse. Now I don't do zombies, I don't watch the Walking Dead, really I don't do scary stuff at all. But when I saw a bundle of Riley Blake Zombie Apocalypse fabric on sale at Fat Quarter Shop, I just couldn't resist. I have had the fabric for about 3 years, and it just never worked it ways to the top of my to do list, but it was my June project and so I had to work on it.<br />
<br />
I debated about doing something more complicated, but since the real stars of the fabrics were the zombies I wanted to make sure they were really seen. And as much as I'm not into to zombies, these are pretty cute. I went with a simple sashed block pattern that let me get the most out of the 9 fat quarters that were in the bundle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9O3avyWBLoAzDzEJFJqEVcxh8JQMqwUoaygUGLkJZV_eCeMC0kR4FblFdZEEUKMtmp5nUacWU87RT-kdY1aVYjA0WU8ClQKwMnTFMUtkpb_e9TRXUacKIz87uN6MFhSQ0mM1ei0yYXW8I/s1600/P1130955+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1245" data-original-width="1600" height="498" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9O3avyWBLoAzDzEJFJqEVcxh8JQMqwUoaygUGLkJZV_eCeMC0kR4FblFdZEEUKMtmp5nUacWU87RT-kdY1aVYjA0WU8ClQKwMnTFMUtkpb_e9TRXUacKIz87uN6MFhSQ0mM1ei0yYXW8I/s640/P1130955+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I love that some of the fabrics gave important zombie facts, like zombies are attracted by loud noises and lights. So I will be hiding in a dark room if there is an apocalypse.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijPGh6SzySfWgauJLXVkNfEOCXMTIr3XNfaaoG0udGuIzIuvFln2jpuNEgNom89kJBcylAZGprFGS91jbfy3nDSMpgbXw3YwFWYe1uetAF3kpX9vWKFe2s2EMJ_gqFboqBGmndeYQhx-FS/s1600/P1130958+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1287" data-original-width="1600" height="514" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijPGh6SzySfWgauJLXVkNfEOCXMTIr3XNfaaoG0udGuIzIuvFln2jpuNEgNom89kJBcylAZGprFGS91jbfy3nDSMpgbXw3YwFWYe1uetAF3kpX9vWKFe2s2EMJ_gqFboqBGmndeYQhx-FS/s640/P1130958+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I am very happy to have finished this one early in the month because it gives me time to work on a few projects not on my monthly list. It will be a little bit before it get's quilted, but that is ok, Hollywood is very patient. I am hoping to get injections in my knees later this month which should help so that I can get some quilting done. It isn't a large quilt, only 55 x 55, so it might move up the list of quilts, just because I can get it done easier.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Today would have been my parent's 62nd wedding anniversary. I miss them all the time, but on days like today, I really miss them more. I know that if they were still here I most likely wouldn't be quilting, because taking care of them kept me pretty busy, but I'd give up quilting in a heartbeat to have them back.<br />
<br />
But enough sadness, it is time to see what got accomplished this week. I did finish Hollywood's zombie flimsy, but due to circumstances around my house this week I didn't get it photographed. I hope to show it next Friday. I will wait to count it in my numbers until I show it, but I did get it done.<br />
I also made some more progress on my #100days100blocks2017 blocks. Last week was week 5, and so it was blocks 29-35. So far keeping up hasn't been hard, because we are doing the blocks ahead. Here are my blocks for last week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje_ZGPZk4GlLzIgMOncZGABN-wIkDsZoA0sVqj-BNJrlsVJMqsb9zwp319GP7DMd-ZLlQFIg-CvO41bL8DrCjqR2833ffbXG3vnvLe9JOFTWWGWwgfUxlpiSZpcrH7wT46tNcoCO0SkNBx/s1600/P1130936+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1501" data-original-width="1600" height="600" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje_ZGPZk4GlLzIgMOncZGABN-wIkDsZoA0sVqj-BNJrlsVJMqsb9zwp319GP7DMd-ZLlQFIg-CvO41bL8DrCjqR2833ffbXG3vnvLe9JOFTWWGWwgfUxlpiSZpcrH7wT46tNcoCO0SkNBx/s640/P1130936+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Sharla kept up as well. Neither of us got many blocks done ahead this week, but we still have enough for all of next week. We're hoping this week isn't as hard as last week was and that we make some progress. Here are Sharla's block for last week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7516f2qv2UAZY6zB2cdD3sYe0wISIYZYSYtt9n4PDlLsNyepY1RkNVpI2-WSsNKCWUCryLGhDYau-lCGTC_NLdTEBAqcTjftmhA-9QAMt1st30lmhAvlx31pp7BtsN2FZYiZWwFjysFgt/s1600/P1130925+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1427" data-original-width="1600" height="570" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj7516f2qv2UAZY6zB2cdD3sYe0wISIYZYSYtt9n4PDlLsNyepY1RkNVpI2-WSsNKCWUCryLGhDYau-lCGTC_NLdTEBAqcTjftmhA-9QAMt1st30lmhAvlx31pp7BtsN2FZYiZWwFjysFgt/s640/P1130925+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now Sharla also made progress on her Bristo quilt, she has all the pieces matched up for the blocks and has the first row of blocks pieced. I'm sure she will finish it by the end of the month, but probably not until the last weekend.<br />
<br />
As for as stash goes, the numbers didn't change from last week. Since I'm not counting the zombie flimsy until I show it. We haven't purchased any fabric, which is a good thing. I've been so tempted, but I keep thinking, I need to use more of what I have first. I've also been working on my bee block for this month, but haven't finished it yet.<br />
<br />
Fabric Used this Week: 7 1/2 yard<br />
Fabric Used year to Date: 118 1/2 yards<br />
Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards<br />
Fabric Added Year to Date: 68 yards<br />
<b>Net Fabric for 2017: 50 1/2 yards used</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
I am very happy with where we stand for the year, would I like it to be more, sure. But I think it is a respectable number and as long as we have used more than we've bought I will be very very happy. I am linking up with <a href="https://quiltpaintcreate.wordpress.com/2017/06/11/sunday-stash-june-11-2017/" target="_blank">Quilt Paint Create</a> this week and if you want to see what others are doing, go check out the link up party.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00329080022563939698noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7642803842386677027.post-63932555635255425952017-06-04T09:51:00.000-05:002017-06-04T09:51:09.713-05:00Sunday Stash - 06/04/17Things are moving along nicely here at Casa T. Sharla finished her True Colors quilt over the long weekend, I've started Hollywood's zombie quilt and we've both been making progress on our #100days100blocks2017 sampler. It is nice when things progress, it makes me very very happy.<br />
<br />
First if you didn't see Sharla's quilt on Friday, here is another photo of it. It is very bright and cheerful, which is something she really likes. She has picked out some less bright fabrics in the past, but they are by far in the minority. She considers this her May finish since she finished it in May, but it wasn't the one she was supposed to be doing. That one is a lot less bright and I think she just couldn't resist this one.<br />

<br />
I've started working on Hollywood's quilt, and hope to finish it in the next week or so. And I have worked pretty far ahead on my 100 days sampler. I've completed through block 50 and have 7 or 8 more cut. Last week was blocks 22 to 28, so that means as of last week we are over 25% done with the challenge. I'm having so much fun that if they do this again next year I will probably do it again. Seeing all the different blocks makes me want to do it in all kinds of different fabrics. Here are my blocks from last week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikJRAsPyrs0uS001bX-dln0oK-gQxWzMaFPZ8ZjZobpoKKc6IjFt7_5nQVijmunztq68JexTKcFBs15TsR5Zi2m7p-BTMxHHAx2oArFbytIJtq8URaFoCh2y6Fy5hFWAV-KfhtHV6CrpGx/s1600/P1130912+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1386" data-original-width="1600" height="554" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikJRAsPyrs0uS001bX-dln0oK-gQxWzMaFPZ8ZjZobpoKKc6IjFt7_5nQVijmunztq68JexTKcFBs15TsR5Zi2m7p-BTMxHHAx2oArFbytIJtq8URaFoCh2y6Fy5hFWAV-KfhtHV6CrpGx/s640/P1130912+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Here are Sharla's from last week. She definitely has favorite colors and I've had to tell her she needs to use some others in her stash or she will totally run out of her favorites. I think she could make all of them using the solids of dark green, lime green, bright yellow, orange and red...hummm that could look pretty cool.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGjhN9qpAYMsfTl_eSOpFG3RyI8kiXL-3TnfspqyfVYSJjNOCri9cq_rdJYUCbzgcF4ta5C9Cw6XzLTQwOBpMyGjYiKeUn0gqQeyub-udbEOWDEESl2ps7wzSCmyoKYFhbO_glj9Nbw2wZ/s1600/P1130895+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1409" data-original-width="1600" height="562" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGjhN9qpAYMsfTl_eSOpFG3RyI8kiXL-3TnfspqyfVYSJjNOCri9cq_rdJYUCbzgcF4ta5C9Cw6XzLTQwOBpMyGjYiKeUn0gqQeyub-udbEOWDEESl2ps7wzSCmyoKYFhbO_glj9Nbw2wZ/s640/P1130895+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
So now it is number time. We purchase no fabric this week...yeah!!! And we have Sharla's flimsy finish, so we are moving in the right direction...double yeah!!!! In the big scheme of life I know we are doing well, but I always want to do better.<br />

I am linking up with <a href="https://quiltpaintcreate.wordpress.com/2017/06/04/sunday-stash-june-4-2017/" target="_blank">quiltpaintcreate</a> this week. I hope each of you has a wonderful week full of lots of sewing time and naps, well that is what I'm hoping for this week.<br />

That means we are doing pretty good. This month I'm thinking we will be in good shape to finish our goals.<br />
<br />
My goal is Hollywood's zombie quilt. I don't like zombies, and normally wouldn't pick out zombie fabrics for a quilt. But Cole calls Hollywood his zombie apocalypse dog, because Hollywood will protect him in the event of a zombie apocalypse. So when I found zombie fabric on sale, I just couldn't resist. It was only a 9 FQ pack, so to maximize the size I'm just doing sashed blocks. Here is a mock up what I'm doing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg4mMjLbdpEipuHBze0GrRmrcjgQWUF3UbFxKl0btKVzfIgkfytB-8fMGAgBrFUaQenkxiFneudOlmg7CvKojib8w5kgC9W3mrtwkWvKSFx1bx8JahmMDXqQxpKZrxF6nWTxlxR0P_v20Z/s1600/Zombie+quilt.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1585" data-original-width="1600" height="632" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjg4mMjLbdpEipuHBze0GrRmrcjgQWUF3UbFxKl0btKVzfIgkfytB-8fMGAgBrFUaQenkxiFneudOlmg7CvKojib8w5kgC9W3mrtwkWvKSFx1bx8JahmMDXqQxpKZrxF6nWTxlxR0P_v20Z/s640/Zombie+quilt.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
I got started on mine over the Memorial Day weekend, I have all the rows pieced together and just have to do the horizontal sashing and the outer border. So I think I will be finished in plenty of time.<br />
<br />
Sharla is going to work on Bristro, which is the same goal she had for last month. It is her oldest project and she wants it off the books. I think she would have gotten it done last month, but she couldn't decide on a pattern. She went back and forth on which one to do. Then she got sick a couple of times during the month and tackling a big project was just something she didn't want to do. But she is feeling better and she picked a pattern, so this is the month that Bistro gets cut and pieced. She chose the pattern Cheaper by the Dozen, which I think is a great choice.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbq_WWuF8OMUqdTFPhhLr5sMzx5iJhHU5T0HIOmOodnixrC8v7ve68-B9jTOMnAaPMkn-1owCOtu1mw0JFwPmtea9y_pkFJFh3W-GHJi1qwmExRgoDQCXhLQo1A0It_NhFQf-NjwZ2l7sG/s1600/Bistro.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1341" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbq_WWuF8OMUqdTFPhhLr5sMzx5iJhHU5T0HIOmOodnixrC8v7ve68-B9jTOMnAaPMkn-1owCOtu1mw0JFwPmtea9y_pkFJFh3W-GHJi1qwmExRgoDQCXhLQo1A0It_NhFQf-NjwZ2l7sG/s640/Bistro.jpg" width="536" /></a></div>
<br />
Last month we had an additional goal of finishing a second flimsy each, but we didn't get that done. But we did start the #100days100block2017, and are keeping current with that project. Overall I'm happy with what we've accomplished and I'm pretty confident we will finish both of these flimsys this month. I am linking up with <a href="http://www.elmstreetquilts.com/2017/06/one-monthly-goal-june-goal-setting-link.html" target="_blank">Elm Street Quilts for One Monthly Goal</a>. We didn't really have a pattern for this one, Sharla saw a quilt she liked on Pinterest, but the link didn't lead to a pattern, so I used EQ to create one. We just played with the sizes until we got the best use of a fat quarter. Then she decided to sash it, which the original quilt did do. When we started to cut the quilt we realized the kit she purchased had more quarter yard cuts not fat quarters. So I gave her my FQ bundle to use. The pattern I plan on using can use either/or. She also decided she didn't want to use all the fabrics in the bundle, but the kit she got had some 1/2 yard cuts in it as well, so we cut the extras from those fabrics. I think it turned out very nice.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQDRotqPRuiJ-iicVS7mKPrkQRZOxITD0JCcOR08Hu8qGP2yTJjHRiUXMzKosiQWhc0EWdeyf2E_F07MbxhDckEZxFkiDXvO0MzKBWkoqbEzvPC20BmDaqxPk6JRVXoUFtYiUdq1TPMDkD/s1600/P1130798+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="934" data-original-width="1600" height="372" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQDRotqPRuiJ-iicVS7mKPrkQRZOxITD0JCcOR08Hu8qGP2yTJjHRiUXMzKosiQWhc0EWdeyf2E_F07MbxhDckEZxFkiDXvO0MzKBWkoqbEzvPC20BmDaqxPk6JRVXoUFtYiUdq1TPMDkD/s640/P1130798+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I think I may have converted her to a Tula Pink fan. She really loves the bright colors in this one. I saw her scoping out the latest bundle by Tula. But we are on a strict fabric diet until July when we count up our piggy banks. We too the top to the gazebo to photograph because it was late afternoon and the sun was really bright and we needed the shade.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOGmwfprwpn4TLmEbSX9e2eKyutMCKMKMj7TqiX7aIJeIiJ375PW1jLqbj0M0PW_NHSadW41owuE8a9Psy8ymMITsVOXRP2OdOOuP7xMtsvmVopmxg9F0axQa8v33QyUbzaCUGlhoHVWKq/s1600/P1130801+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgOGmwfprwpn4TLmEbSX9e2eKyutMCKMKMj7TqiX7aIJeIiJ375PW1jLqbj0M0PW_NHSadW41owuE8a9Psy8ymMITsVOXRP2OdOOuP7xMtsvmVopmxg9F0axQa8v33QyUbzaCUGlhoHVWKq/s640/P1130801+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
We snapped a few photos and were on our way. She picked the orange and pink fabric in bottom row for her backing and the lazy yellow stripe for the binding. It will definitely be a bright and cheerful quilt. It is pretty large too, I think it is 80 x 100 right now, so after quilting and washing it will most like be used on her bed. She didn't get her other May quilt done, but I think she still is happy, because she really wanted to do this one.<br />
<br />
We are still both making good progress on our #100days100blocks2017, we've posted 27 days as of today, and both have worked ahead so that we can be prepared and not sewing at the last minute. I've already started working on my June quilt, and she will start hers this weekend. So we are doing good!!! Ok, maybe just not blog worthy stuff. Sharla and I have been continuing with the #100days100blocks2017 and so far we've managed to post every day. As of yesterday there have been 21 blocks posted which means we are over 20% done. We are both very happy with our blocks, and I can't wait to get them up on a design wall. Here are mine for the week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHqDqRTwQ23YAmmllr2s2xoOMqq9aMCrvv5-HhZLFF5uGhtwV0X4P8rWgMpS2Fv9EuOQg3Pky98wBfkk16P_rCe1QMVaTRH1gmayeGKe3y2Ru78y8MUx97B_VgwLAsSvrqgV2Ab4iJiQB7/s1600/P1130885+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1461" data-original-width="1600" height="584" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHqDqRTwQ23YAmmllr2s2xoOMqq9aMCrvv5-HhZLFF5uGhtwV0X4P8rWgMpS2Fv9EuOQg3Pky98wBfkk16P_rCe1QMVaTRH1gmayeGKe3y2Ru78y8MUx97B_VgwLAsSvrqgV2Ab4iJiQB7/s640/P1130885+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And here are Sharla's for the week.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGdUEgXhbvskpmuG9xfrUB-hWbR31seTjF35jXTeCY6I3mZ1fS9fOSHJvKKiCnxvR7eHU6JiYIJB-4Ph4r43DeG5tkk38Fr1i6nZZClnqWIlqWjzWIVtZ-7NLoCAy97yApoN6c10oae5Tp/s1600/P1130877+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1391" data-original-width="1600" height="556" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGdUEgXhbvskpmuG9xfrUB-hWbR31seTjF35jXTeCY6I3mZ1fS9fOSHJvKKiCnxvR7eHU6JiYIJB-4Ph4r43DeG5tkk38Fr1i6nZZClnqWIlqWjzWIVtZ-7NLoCAy97yApoN6c10oae5Tp/s640/P1130877+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It is so cool that we are using the same pattern but they look so very different. We are both trying to work ahead, so that if something comes up we don't get behind. As of today I will have almost 50 blocks done and I think Sharla is at 35 or 36. It is moving along quickly.<br />
<br />
For my #MayIsForMakers2017 pattern I found a very cool pattern called <a href="https://huntersdesignstudio.com/product/flight-club/" target="_blank">Flight Club by Hunter's Design Studio.</a> It is flying geese, that look improvisational, but aren't. Which works for me, because I struggle with improv. I also love that it can use fat quarters, quarter yards or just scraps.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIrM5AMSfWXBi1cAi-5ajuzWXFeS0FImIGp_jJHsTSPVqYME555KBgHUhbWaDOhsLSLCqYMirOy6JG0xSsHbWCu3wlzEgLRi8WrKGNiKyuU5ANHZlalciIYPQOeTix5y2idhfzG2G_9cTZ/s1600/HDS.040-Flight-Club-COVER-300dpi-388x600.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="388" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIrM5AMSfWXBi1cAi-5ajuzWXFeS0FImIGp_jJHsTSPVqYME555KBgHUhbWaDOhsLSLCqYMirOy6JG0xSsHbWCu3wlzEgLRi8WrKGNiKyuU5ANHZlalciIYPQOeTix5y2idhfzG2G_9cTZ/s400/HDS.040-Flight-Club-COVER-300dpi-388x600.jpg" width="257" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now it is time to talk numbers, but to be honest there isn't anything new to report. No finishes and no purchases. Sharla is very close to finishing her True Colors quilt and I expect to show it next week, but as of right now, we are sitting where we were last week. Which I'm thinking is ok. I'm hoping to start of my June project this weekend, which is Hollywood's zombie quilt, so who knows maybe we will have two to report next week.</div>

And then I learned that <a href="https://quiltpaintcreate.wordpress.com/2017/05/21/saturday-stash-and-restraint/" target="_blank">quiltpaintcreate </a>is going to continue the stash report for now, and I am very happy about it!!! This was a productive week, I finished my coin quilt flimsy and my bee block, both which will count in my used column. We had no purchases and both Sharla and I made progress on our #100days100blocks2017 project. And I made my purchase for #MayIsForMakers2017<br />
<br />
First up lets see what I made for my 100 days project. I'm really liking how these blocks look. I'm still using mostly stash fabrics with the exception of what I purchased last week. It is so much fun to pick out the fabrics for each block, and get to use some pretty small scraps. There are some fabrics that will appear in only one block because that was all the fabric I had. My favorite block to date is the middle block on the second row, but I have to say I'm really loving them all.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA1mpA18UeCBBCzIkT2k5zGFV0Hp8U134mYYn1Cee2_XkJDMsqnt9tWiYLoz-_CBTGCOje0_prwrkm2_B31EpPS5vC_quxDZ_70igerQm2jitFgyn_D6hW0kH1oKMgFdVQvVOmxKAlDMlo/s1600/P1130866+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="466" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiA1mpA18UeCBBCzIkT2k5zGFV0Hp8U134mYYn1Cee2_XkJDMsqnt9tWiYLoz-_CBTGCOje0_prwrkm2_B31EpPS5vC_quxDZ_70igerQm2jitFgyn_D6hW0kH1oKMgFdVQvVOmxKAlDMlo/s640/P1130866+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Sharla is keeping up as well. We've found some fabrics in our stash to add to her selection to give her some more choices. We laugh every time we see her blocks next to mine, because they are so different, but yet the same. Sharla does not sew fast and she was a little concerned about keeping up, but so far she is doing a great job of it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6lj6NMJ2-x0j091tpip2cbeaWOBL8mXHjKsD3ptwyRk06spHV4PAsMwSxClOENsAbhrqifEeUMGshr30JNVcUt9ZFtN1ClSqkug42gt2Bg7V9cXIimaTIdb3Pwyr4busUEijea1NhnZLG/s1600/P1130831+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6lj6NMJ2-x0j091tpip2cbeaWOBL8mXHjKsD3ptwyRk06spHV4PAsMwSxClOENsAbhrqifEeUMGshr30JNVcUt9ZFtN1ClSqkug42gt2Bg7V9cXIimaTIdb3Pwyr4busUEijea1NhnZLG/s640/P1130831+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
We have been watching all the blocks on Instagram and are amazed at how different they all are. Some are more traditional fabrics, and some very modern. We were talking last night about how you could do this project again with different fabrics/colors and have it look totally different. I wonder if they will have a 2018 version...mmm something to think about.<br />
<br />
For my #MayIsForMakers2017 pattern I chose one I've looked at often since it was released. It is called <a href="https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/patterns/bundle-buster-quilt-pattern/323960" target="_blank">Bundle Buster by Quilting Jetgirl</a>. I love her patterns, but this one I like because it makes great use of fat quarters with very little waste. I have a ton of bundles, and this one should help me put some of them to good use. Here is the photo from her web site.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now it is time to see what got done this week. I showed my coin quilt on Friday, and I still have to stay I'm loving it. And I also got my bee block in the mail. It was a fun block to make, but I don't think I will be making a full quilt like it, because my baby dogs wouldn't like it much. They think cats are bad, really really bad.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<br />
So let's talk numbers<br />
<br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "droid sans"; font-size: 16px;">Fabric Used this Week: 6 yard</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "droid sans"; font-size: 16px;">Fabric Used year to Date: 111 yards</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "droid sans"; font-size: 16px;">Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "droid sans"; font-size: 16px;">Fabric Added Year to Date: 68 yards</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; font-family: "droid sans"; font-size: 16px;">Net Fabric for 2017: 43 yards used</span><br />
<br />
The numbers are going in the right direction this week, which is a good thing. Sharla and I were rearranging some things yesterday and she noted that even though we've accomplished a lot this year, our stash doesn't seem to be dwindling much. I think we are going to have to work harder and faster to make a dent. I'm hoping to get some work done on the memory quilts this week, but I know I won't get them completed. So unless Sharla finishes her True Colors quilt, this is probably where we will stand for the month. Which isn't a bad place to be. Next weekend is a long weekend and we plan on doing a lot of sewing, but I'm not sure any of it will be able to be reported as completed. Either way we will have fun doing it. I hope everyone has a wonderful week. I received a jelly roll for Christmas in 2012 from Tom and Mecca. I knew right away I wanted to make a coin quilt out of it, and so I sewed the strips together, then sub cut those into groups and made the groups into columns and then it sat and sat and sat. I couldn't make up my mind on what to use for the sashing. I thought black, then grey, then white, and then another batik, but just couldn't commit to any of them. Every time I would straighten the sewing room I would find these and think I need to finish that, but then I would go around and around with myself on what color to do for the sashing.<br />
<br />
I knew that if I was going to get it done, I needed to put it on my list for this year and it became my May top to complete. Even then I still debated about what color to use for the sashing. I wanted something that would highlight the great colors of the jelly roll, but also blend in some too.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGfs4gWD-sz1OD4BWTaKeBn42j_sLldofyLIHPyCIRxGX5c82Ig8AQln76z25LC8zmbRrN2dK-Up50-BhalXe4giav5S7ywPLxnCHEjXefjHS7cjxlEdYYUXqBGNFz8oYqovw-G1mNdcHj/s1600/P1130731+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="520" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGfs4gWD-sz1OD4BWTaKeBn42j_sLldofyLIHPyCIRxGX5c82Ig8AQln76z25LC8zmbRrN2dK-Up50-BhalXe4giav5S7ywPLxnCHEjXefjHS7cjxlEdYYUXqBGNFz8oYqovw-G1mNdcHj/s640/P1130731+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I finally took the strips an laid out on my long arm and then put the Kona Card and Bella Solids card that I have up against them, and finally picked Washed Black by Bella Solids. Then I had to order the fabric, so I started off a little late, but since it was only sashing it went together really quickly.<br />
<br />
I finished the quilt on Monday, but the wind was blowing really hard, so no chance to photograph it. Then Sharla was sick, then errands after work and then rain predicted. I tried to snap a couple of photos before the rain came, but the wind was still playing tricks on me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXy2M4unzGd0JudK_KijLXGIptpV6169oe61SuwEn30OVFYyhIG2f9QnDKEFK9S8BeoUrp5m_qeSzscZE_ry03PTIJPk1yvgReqQVKTDl9fO6ErCDD5cscX7s_kd5ZBGwygKOz1O7CLRJ5/s1600/P1130820+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="466" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXy2M4unzGd0JudK_KijLXGIptpV6169oe61SuwEn30OVFYyhIG2f9QnDKEFK9S8BeoUrp5m_qeSzscZE_ry03PTIJPk1yvgReqQVKTDl9fO6ErCDD5cscX7s_kd5ZBGwygKOz1O7CLRJ5/s640/P1130820+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Every time I fixed one corner another one would curl up, so I gave up and said this is as good as it is going to get. I really love the colors in this and I think it is going to be a nice size lap quilt when I'm done. Since I had already dropped Sharla off at work it was just me against the wind and the wind won.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This is my one monthly goal for May, so yeah I met my goal. I'm still making progress on the #100days100blocks2017 and will show everyone week two block on Sunday. Sharla has battled a bug a couple of times this month, so she she has some work to do, but she is staying current with her 100 blocks too. I will link this up with <a href="http://www.elmstreetquilts.com/2017/05/one-monthly-goal-may-finish-link-up.html" target="_blank">Elm Street Quilts</a> at the end of the month. No finishes because we've mainly been focusing on the #100Days100Blocks2017. So far we've posted every day on time, which means we've finished 8 blocks as of today. If you've been following along on instagram you've already seen these beauties, but if not here are my blocks so far.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

And here are Sharla's blocks to date.<br />
<br />

<br />
Now I will readily admit I stole/modified someone else's idea on photographing the blocks. I've seen some very cute props photographed with the blocks (I love the doggies best), but my favorite was by @ohsewquirky_nancy who used scrabble tiles to spell out the block number. I really loved that idea, but knew I wouldn't be so fond of it when it got to seventy eight. So I went looking and found some numbered scrabble tiles and they arrived on Friday night. So now our blocks photos are numbered. And as you can see above, I'm using the tile racks to from extra photo fun. I can see these getting a lot of use in the future.<br />
<br />
Now for purchases, Sharla and I both needed some solids for this project, not lots, but some. So we went to the local quilt shop on Saturday and picked up some. I added more prints, because they didn't have the solids I needed. Since mine is a scrappy quilt I didn't need to match anything other than did I like it. But we made a pack that we could not purchase more than 10 FQ each and we stuck to it. I picked 10 and Sharla picked 7, here is what we purchased.<br />
<br />

<br />
Also it is time to show my May Is For Makers 2017 purchase for this week. I chose a pattern that I've had pinned for a long time. I loved it from the first time I saw it, but kept putting off purchasing it because I didn't have the perfect fabric for it. I still don't have the perfect fabric, but I don't care, I'm bought it anyway. It is call <a href="https://www.craftsy.com/quilting/patterns/bubble-bath/241759" target="_blank">Bubble Bath</a> by <a href="http://www.myquiltinfatuation.com/" target="_blank">My Quilt Infatuation</a>. I love her patterns, in fact I bought one last year in May too.<br />

<br />
So now it is time to talk numbers, and the numbers are creeping the wrong way, but I did make some progress on my coin quilt, and I'm hoping to have the top done by next week, which will help the number go back in the right direction.<br />
<br />
Fabric Used this Week: 0 yard<br />
Fabric Used year to Date: 105 yards<br />
Fabric Added this Week: 4 1/4 yards<br />
Fabric Added Year to Date: 68 yards<br />
Net Fabric for 2017: 37 yards used<br />
<br />
I'm not thrilled with those number, but I'm not too mad either. Hopefully they will start creeping the in the other direction again soon. For today I'm going to link up with <a href="http://www.patchworktimes.com/2017/05/14/stash-report-may-14-2017/" target="_blank">Judy at Patchwork Times - Sunday Stash </a>and <a href="http://mollisparkles.com/2017/05/sunday-stash-224-a-stable-home/" target="_blank">Sunday Stash #224 with Molli Sparkles.</a> And then I'm going to get busy sewing and see if I can change the direction of these numbers.Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00329080022563939698noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7642803842386677027.post-87189478433620358492017-05-07T10:12:00.000-05:002017-05-07T10:12:33.792-05:00Sunday Stash - 05/07/17Another week where my numbers go in the wrong direction. But it was a necessary purchase...aren't they all. It was a busy week and as per normal for me, I decide to jump in feet first on something at the very last minute. But more on that later.<br />
<br />
First nothing used this week. I did work on one of the memory quilts this week, but that is all and it wasn't finished. Sharla didn't make any progress on her True Colors quilt either. So a big goose egg in the used column this week. I did purchase some fabric, I needed sashing for both my coin quilt which is my May project and my zombie quilt which is my June project. I decided to use the same fabric for both. So I purchased some Washed Black Bella Solid. Nothing fancy, but it will work for what I need.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrqYg7T9USzpLB7lANJfvHwlq-GTmpOdjfOI_EdOjwra1hKPgVKCRq9TKGsqgELAcuYVWh7aXRJcm0dwmFPTQZYsGAzztKt1C-yGecDUwwBIlVC-E3LrRVblfVXbqbxyh2-tF0fTdKubee/s1600/P1130744+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="580" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrqYg7T9USzpLB7lANJfvHwlq-GTmpOdjfOI_EdOjwra1hKPgVKCRq9TKGsqgELAcuYVWh7aXRJcm0dwmFPTQZYsGAzztKt1C-yGecDUwwBIlVC-E3LrRVblfVXbqbxyh2-tF0fTdKubee/s640/P1130744+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now it is also May Is For Makers 2017 and I wanted to do my part to support independent makers. Last year I bought some great patterns during the 2016 round of MayIsForMakers. This year they have even extended it to include any type of maker, yarn dyers, bag makers, pattern designers, jewelry makers, but I will most likely stay in the quilt pattern range.<br />
<br />
My first pattern is one I've had pinned for a long time. I love that is it simple and a great way to show off some of those beautiful large print fabrics. It is Craftsman by Amy Smart. I think this is one that even Sharla will love.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4X4DQMNWYGzXpudCTSJJmVkMX6eWK-abhgrumxHVS7MUhswboH-bf4lGnXTgvZNlzm_DOg0POqBDeizedVwIAP_l4FAKMXMPta64F7Myib92GLWGiWtJw2sJUtdBur-uVzAEs6I57ZeA9/s1600/CraftsmanCoverFront.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi4X4DQMNWYGzXpudCTSJJmVkMX6eWK-abhgrumxHVS7MUhswboH-bf4lGnXTgvZNlzm_DOg0POqBDeizedVwIAP_l4FAKMXMPta64F7Myib92GLWGiWtJw2sJUtdBur-uVzAEs6I57ZeA9/s640/CraftsmanCoverFront.jpg" width="414" /></a></div>
<br />
Now I also purchased something else this week and that is Tula Pink's City Sampler 100 Modern Quilt Blocks book. I watch last year as people did the #100Days100Blocks on Instagram and was very intrigued by it. Then I saw <a href="http://www.gnomeangel.com/100days100blocks2017/" target="_blank">GnomeAngel </a>was going to do another round and I thought about it, but said no I don't want to to it. Then I saw another post about it and then another and Friday I decided I wanted to do it. Now it starts today and I didn't even have the book. I could get a digital copy from Amazon or Barnes and Noble, but I really wanted the book. So I paid a little more and purchased it from my local quilt shop. Then I talked Sharla into doing it with me.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFZ4rsygsxw2UbFcid2X90cS9N8d4e1X7cS7C_-jbkaddaKYfKdYVJOmCoOuMfMFp1a2ShyQOtV9nPK3tQmYEFhrYbWvOBNYwyzoNnDBUhey_p0CcKhMoLcAVaZ3eRI7HF5cx5I0IpAZW_/s1600/citysampler.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFZ4rsygsxw2UbFcid2X90cS9N8d4e1X7cS7C_-jbkaddaKYfKdYVJOmCoOuMfMFp1a2ShyQOtV9nPK3tQmYEFhrYbWvOBNYwyzoNnDBUhey_p0CcKhMoLcAVaZ3eRI7HF5cx5I0IpAZW_/s640/citysampler.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now we had to decide on fabric, get some cut and start making blocks. We want to get a little ahead because life gets crazy around her sometimes. Our only rule was we didn't want to buy new fabric for this project. Sharla immediately thought of fabric she had purchased and came up with two different possibilities. She had a bundle called Best Day Ever and she had two mixed bundles that were mainly made up of a line called Fancy. We dug them out and she ended up choosing the Fancy line. I went through my FQ stash and found 5 or 6 others that would go with hers including several solids. I decided that I was going to use my stash of low volume, blacks, grays and pinks to make mine. Once the fabric decisions were made, I went to work cutting. I've cut 8 blocks for Sharla and 7 blocks for me, and Sharla has block 1 done. I still have to sew mine. I will show the blocks we get done weekly here on this blog and daily on Instagram.<br />
<br />

Now it is time to show my weekly numbers<br />
<br />
Fabric Used this Week: 0 yard<br />
Fabric Used year to Date: 105 yards<br />
Fabric Added this Week: 5 yards<br />
Fabric Added Year to Date: 63 3/4 yards<br />
Net Fabric for 2017: 41 1/4 yards used<br />
<br />

We did very well for April, Sharla finished her Lula Magnolia quilt and I finished Callie and Beau's quilt. I finally got to post about Callie's quilt yesterday, because it arrived in Houston, safe and sound. I am so glad that cat is out of the bag.<br />
<br />
For May I'm going to finish the flimsy of my coin quilt. Which is my oldest UFO. It was a jelly roll gifted to me by Tom and Mecca in 2012. I made the coin strips almost immediately after getting the jelly roll, but then I couldn't decide on what I wanted to use as sashing between the columns. It got put away and never finished. But I finally decided to use Washed Black Bella solid, because I think the black will make the other colors pop. The fabric for the sashing arrived this week, so I should be in good shape. I decided to use the same black for Hollywood's zombie quilt, so I went ahead and purchased for both. So hopefully this one will be done quickly. Here are the coins laid over my long arm machine.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFj9V0pkMGMjUPR0hbQu55qUdwj67pJr3V8e0x7-w3DRxPXpNXUdsb7LDCQmPVpL9E0_pa258r0Ha9NCso6j0Bjnq9qxh-NyApsIoi8Z7jKWKW82dntbFS3PkjOtTQk2FNoTHqwHI70U_3/s1600/P1130732+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="546" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiFj9V0pkMGMjUPR0hbQu55qUdwj67pJr3V8e0x7-w3DRxPXpNXUdsb7LDCQmPVpL9E0_pa258r0Ha9NCso6j0Bjnq9qxh-NyApsIoi8Z7jKWKW82dntbFS3PkjOtTQk2FNoTHqwHI70U_3/s640/P1130732+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Sharla switched her pick for May and is working on Bistro, which is her oldest project and it dates back to 2008. It is a fat quarter bundle and right now Sharla is debating on what pattern she wants to use. I'm thinking she will go for Big and Tall or Cheaper By The Dozen because she wants something simple and quick. Sharla claimed the fabric was mine until we stumble across this photo from Christmas 2008 and look who is holding the bundle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZbseoFyo_bnPKfYGwe6GzXvkHxAfnVeaMldUxdN0MBmNzXm281GCtnVsJhp4p5styn21KDS1mN6RI7g1G5QYLUhzQ-AQvop2kKszhiVZCRmSxlR6SSXuBvxSN5KQSPdOQsMbvq3madp48/s1600/P1150549+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZbseoFyo_bnPKfYGwe6GzXvkHxAfnVeaMldUxdN0MBmNzXm281GCtnVsJhp4p5styn21KDS1mN6RI7g1G5QYLUhzQ-AQvop2kKszhiVZCRmSxlR6SSXuBvxSN5KQSPdOQsMbvq3madp48/s640/P1150549+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Now to tell the truth, Sharla and I both have extra goals this month. We would both like to finish a second top if at all possible. Sharla is close to finishing her True Colors flimsy, so that goal should be easy for her. I am hoping to finish the third memory flimsy and get the second on quilted. Big goals, but we do have a three day weekend this month that Sharla is turning into a 4 day weekend. So anything is possible. And we also decided to join the #100Days100Block2017 challenge which is making 1 block a day for 100 days using Tula Pink's book 100 Modern Quilt Blocks. I will write more about this tomorrow and hopefully have the first block done (since it start tomorrow). For now I'm linking up with <a href="http://www.elmstreetquilts.com/2017/05/one-monthly-goal-may-link-up.html" target="_blank">Elm Street Quilts for One Monthly Goal</a>. They have it in their hot little hands and love it!!!! So now I can show it to everyone else. And be prepared, there are lots of pictures today. Just a little history on the quilt. They asked me to make them a signature quilt for their wedding. Everyone signed blocks instead of a guest book, and then I put the blocks together and quilted them. Here is a picture of the setup at the wedding.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH_iie4jMxg6Ykb7b08U5PNaqHTtBvreRbIkuXqLgqI-cNNHrXvCe5mppwMr0589dY5ZFusoKvcH5-pFnKi19LPd6JGnMfNJMVYVapN0621xI-5vLTklZEEbIbfAn3JUVhpAenOW9riOfD/s1600/P1110230.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhH_iie4jMxg6Ykb7b08U5PNaqHTtBvreRbIkuXqLgqI-cNNHrXvCe5mppwMr0589dY5ZFusoKvcH5-pFnKi19LPd6JGnMfNJMVYVapN0621xI-5vLTklZEEbIbfAn3JUVhpAenOW9riOfD/s640/P1110230.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
And here is the finished quilt. We took it back to the gazebo and I photographed from one side and Sharla from the other. The funny thing is the pictures look so different just because of the angle of the sun.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH8nhIcTE8kuDPeudLWn6u5BolTxgmf0SiJAMxrt8W0-UXr0a_1MWdagbFShCz4QH_UFZ7zJtG9SEeOjZQLjzdcBtPkikREVar0od_rlN437wErQBQHgy38rhxch9hkN3GSWPJrcF2sr4B/s1600/P1130688+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjH8nhIcTE8kuDPeudLWn6u5BolTxgmf0SiJAMxrt8W0-UXr0a_1MWdagbFShCz4QH_UFZ7zJtG9SEeOjZQLjzdcBtPkikREVar0od_rlN437wErQBQHgy38rhxch9hkN3GSWPJrcF2sr4B/s640/P1130688+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I used my standard corner label, which I like because it is sewn in with the binding. I also like that I can print it on my computer so it is more readable.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNfLR_GBW6oxVIho0QBkPT8CbiW-pzqFOvsRuO6jNg1M5Nfgt6PQIaThHNvbSuFqUAcXpuls7HL6A3ZfVYIpcCv0b8D1k0e2Z2k1Dnsv3iKdqkuNUwQRGmtQUlgb5tNWmm3hpBdZA9Bgpu/s1600/P1130695+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNfLR_GBW6oxVIho0QBkPT8CbiW-pzqFOvsRuO6jNg1M5Nfgt6PQIaThHNvbSuFqUAcXpuls7HL6A3ZfVYIpcCv0b8D1k0e2Z2k1Dnsv3iKdqkuNUwQRGmtQUlgb5tNWmm3hpBdZA9Bgpu/s640/P1130695+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
Now the only place on the quilt with Callie and Beau's name was going to be the label, but I thought it needed their names on it somewhere else. So I did a little paper piecing and added something to the back (and I didn't tell Callie/Beau, so it was a surprise).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3ArZsygXv49Bz_PdyOil5fjTUPXDiwh_sQ7-_XXAlMwC2p8HR2ptrF4pW6yFCDNADgnEY16lcnWaNwxM0Z79ndz6o0EVxu3bEfncNf14stsp77jl6Pw6otgAQ-6PKDTPLEH56GQvvSeDE/s1600/P1130766+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="585" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh3ArZsygXv49Bz_PdyOil5fjTUPXDiwh_sQ7-_XXAlMwC2p8HR2ptrF4pW6yFCDNADgnEY16lcnWaNwxM0Z79ndz6o0EVxu3bEfncNf14stsp77jl6Pw6otgAQ-6PKDTPLEH56GQvvSeDE/s640/P1130766+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I think my favorite block is the one that the signer added a batman to the block. Unfortunately part of it was in the seam allowance, but it still makes me smile every time I see it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim0u2W28HSfgZ6rS0GHEBxfin1R6L387rreCIUpyKIdKu9kHY-JKkNjK3osRRxFvqVDrQvGU6WinGASDMcNT2umn0mnyQluo8mAtdZ5cRlKxwHu0vc2Fzf7VbYzY8jREVyPWnLH_Q6lNpA/s1600/P1130761+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="392" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEim0u2W28HSfgZ6rS0GHEBxfin1R6L387rreCIUpyKIdKu9kHY-JKkNjK3osRRxFvqVDrQvGU6WinGASDMcNT2umn0mnyQluo8mAtdZ5cRlKxwHu0vc2Fzf7VbYzY8jREVyPWnLH_Q6lNpA/s640/P1130761+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I love the way it looked on the swing with the sun on it. I think this one shows the colors the best of all the shots. I was a little afraid of an all solids quilt, this is my first one, but I think it turned out wonderfully. Callie picked the colors, and as always she did a great job.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyvXJWNhNB4tmfXa4iwfJGJu9ior-BPrzapMGn6J0T52nMApPwrHGCjG-Ulk_Q9jm7hd5_uHh_SiE3ndXbaADUeqL958B19LCZisn4dzwqtECMG8hAKdymOtl4exZNdJhv-UFbLmtMLdWc/s1600/P1130715+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="468" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyvXJWNhNB4tmfXa4iwfJGJu9ior-BPrzapMGn6J0T52nMApPwrHGCjG-Ulk_Q9jm7hd5_uHh_SiE3ndXbaADUeqL958B19LCZisn4dzwqtECMG8hAKdymOtl4exZNdJhv-UFbLmtMLdWc/s640/P1130715+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
After taking the photos at the gazebo we called Mecca and Tom to see if they wanted to see it before I sent to off to Callie and Beau. No one answered their phones, but since they are often outside on the weekends we ran over to their house, but no one was around. So we took a couple of photos on their bridge. We posted one showing only the backing, but here is one of the front. And yes we went back later that night so they could see it before it was boxed and shipped.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHaqrNUiIJfjz9xc5jq_nUr8T6E6GN-WhcSJrC0N-QN5RdPuvPUke1K_j50XuIGCwVuy1eeXuEuUWH2ONxw72KH0m-MmN80S1cENq8MquRRRlkGkBMKhXcJ9hDj9z2iZVMqu2kkZ0wKceC/s1600/P1130790+copy.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHaqrNUiIJfjz9xc5jq_nUr8T6E6GN-WhcSJrC0N-QN5RdPuvPUke1K_j50XuIGCwVuy1eeXuEuUWH2ONxw72KH0m-MmN80S1cENq8MquRRRlkGkBMKhXcJ9hDj9z2iZVMqu2kkZ0wKceC/s640/P1130790+copy.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Over all I'm happy with the quilt and Callie and Beau love it which is all that matters. I learned lots from making this one. I learned that I should have taped the edges of the blocks because to many people wrote into the seam allowance. I learned that people gravitate to certain colors, I was surprised by how few people signed the red blocks. I learned that Callie and Beau are very patient people, because they waited two years for this quilt, but I'm hoping that it is something they will enjoy for 50 years or more. And lastly I learned that working with solid colors isn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be. Here is the last picture for today.<br />

My hope is to get the pictures today and get it in the mail tomorrow or Tuesday. Since she reads the blog I won't post it on Friday finish until she has it in hand. But I did take this little shot of it when I finished it just to show her it was done.<br />

I did get a little more done this week. I made progress on two of the memory quilts, but nothing I can count as used yet. Sharla also made progress on her True Colors quilt but it will most likely be next weekend before it is done. We didn't purchase any fabric this week, well I will be purchasing some today. I need some black for both my April and my May projects so I'm going to order it together. I've been holding off to make sure I didn't need anything else, but since tomorrow starts May, I need to get it here.<br />
<br />
No now it is time to talk numbers.<br />
<br />
Fabric Used this Week: 3/4 yard<br />
Fabric Used year to Date: 105 yards<br />
Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards<br />
Fabric Added Year to Date: 58 3/4 yards<br />
<b>Net Fabric for 2017: 46 1/4 yards used</b><br />
<br />
It looks like my boss my be back at work tomorrow, which hopefully frees up some of my time to get other things done. At least that is what I'm hoping. I want to get lots done over this next week. For now I'm linking up with <a href="http://www.patchworktimes.com/2017/04/30/stash-report-april-30-2017/" target="_blank">Judy @ Patchwork Times.</a>Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00329080022563939698noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7642803842386677027.post-43110028327356241842017-04-23T09:57:00.000-05:002017-04-23T09:57:39.850-05:00Sunday Stash - 04/23/17I have to start by saying I'm sorry Callie I didn't get it finished this week. She emailed me last week and told me she reads my blog. So I'm very glad I didn't ruin the surprise by showing it here. Now I did make progress, it is totally quilted and trimmed. The binding is made and pressed, it is just not sewn onto the quilt.<br />
<br />
I had planned to work Wednesday night and Thursday night on the binding to get it done, but life took a turn on Wednesday and my boss got very sick and had to go into the hospital. Which meant my work load went through the roof. By the time I got home at night I was too tired to do anything.<br />
<br />
So the quilt sits on the table waiting. But I am going to make a push to finish it on Monday or Tuesday (which are my days off). I'm hoping Callie and Beau love it. I did snap a small pic of it to tease Callie.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCwW1mgC3WyqsipU4D3AHKcbHvo0qtNoJuFRqw6iM4cU7GWZhiKNV34byYilBwFjYcTWsyCQOf0qKZhSt1eLELEjCXOGZxjrnTnJ4qetnO2XuAN9DYr6sWp4gerrqM80lqj_p9eKeW9nFu/s1600/33313117493_7229b92782_o.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgCwW1mgC3WyqsipU4D3AHKcbHvo0qtNoJuFRqw6iM4cU7GWZhiKNV34byYilBwFjYcTWsyCQOf0qKZhSt1eLELEjCXOGZxjrnTnJ4qetnO2XuAN9DYr6sWp4gerrqM80lqj_p9eKeW9nFu/s320/33313117493_7229b92782_o.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
And no the quilt isn't black and white, I did that to make it even more of a tease...yes I know I'm mean, but she loves me anyway. Since it is quilted I can count the backing this week, and we had no purchases either. We have to cut back on the purchases, too many other things going on around here.<br />
<br />
So lets get to the numbers<br />
<br />
Fabric Used this Week: 5 1/2 yards<br />
Fabric Used year to Date: 104 1/2 yards<br />
Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards<br />
Fabric Added Year to Date: 58 3/4 yards<br />
<b>Net Fabric for 2017: 45 1/2 yards used</b><br />
<b><br /></b>
Hopefully we will have even more to report next week. Sharla is working on her True Colors quilt and hopes to get all the blocks finished this week and only have the sashing left. I want to finish Callie and Beau's quilt and then start another. But a lot of what I get done will be determined by if my boss gets back to work this week. I'm really hoping so for his sake and mine. Today I'm linking up with <a href="http://www.patchworktimes.com/2017/04/23/stash-report-april-23-2017/" target="_blank">Judy @ Patchwork Times.</a>Shaunahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00329080022563939698noreply@blogger.com2
